Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge
Coleman Greig Lawyers is delighted to announce a new direction in fundraising and
community support …. the Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge.
After 16 years of supporting St. Gabriel’s School with our Annual Charity Golf Day, and
raising over $735,000 in the process, Coleman Greig is responding to feedback we have
received from supporters and colleagues and taking a new approach to our fundraising
efforts for St. Gabriel’s in 2013 and beyond.
We have found that many executives are facing increasing demands on their time and
it is becoming more and more difficult for them to take a full day and evening out of
their hectic schedules to attend a Charity Golf Day – despite it being for a worthy cause.
They want to support the charity and give back to the community, but preferably in a
way that fits in with their already busy lifestyles.
So, tapping into the growing awareness amongst executives of the benefits of a healthy
lifestyle and the rising popularity of cycling and running, Coleman Greig is establishing
the Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge which will feature teams of executives
competing in either a 12km run or a 40km cycle.
Not for the faint-hearted, the Challenge will showcase the stamina, endurance and
physical fitness of executives from across the Western Sydney region…. with all funds
raised going towards two fabulous causes, St. Gabriel’s School and Northcott.
A New Event for a New Age
1
The Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge is part of the Lord Mayor of Parramatta’s Healthy Generations initiative.
Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge
Coleman Greig has long been a supporter of St. Gabriel’s School in Northwest Sydney’s Castle Hill – hosting the Annual Charity Golf Day for the past 16 years and raising over $735,000 for the School.
We have also organised a number of events and fundraising activities in support of Northcott, an organisation based here in Parramatta that provides services for people with disabilities.
In 2013, anticipating a great response from supporters and participants, we have decided to dedicate our efforts with the Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge to both of these incredible organisations.
St. Gabriel’s School
St. Gabriel’s is a co-educational primary school catering for children with hearing impairment and other special needs such as intellectual disability in the mild to moderate range and autism.
Specialist teaching staff at the school, and a purpose built environment, allow students in grades K-6 to achieve success through a focus on communication, literacy, numeracy and social skills. All of St. Gabriel’s programs are labour-intensive. High teacher to student ratios, small class sizes and the additional costs involved in resourcing, including the use of technology for children with individual and unique needs, mean that after any available government funding and fees there is a funding deficit every year that must be met through fundraising and community support.
Northcott
Northcott is one of the state’s leading service providers for people with a broad range of disabilities, supporting more than 11,400 people with disabilities, their families and carers across NSW and the ACT for over 80 years. A broad range of programs is provided, from support in the initial diagnosis period and early intervention, through to early childhood development and assisting adults gain employment and independent living skills. As an independent not-for-profit organisation that receives some Government funding, Northcott relies on the generosity of the community to continue to provide services to people with disabilities, particularly in programs where non-government or limited support is available. For people with disabilities, the support and services Northcott provides can often mean the difference between a life of isolation and segregation and a life of greater self-reliance and confidence. Through the Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge, we are hoping to assist Northcott in providing support and services not only for their clients, but also their carers, siblings and the entire family.

Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge
The Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge
The inaugural Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge will be held on Friday 1
November 2013 at Parramatta Park.
It will feature teams of four executives who will compete in either a run or cycle
component of the event. The aim is to encourage executives to improve their health
and fitness, whilst raising funds for a great cause.
Most importantly, teams can compete and executives can attend the special post-event
Fundraising Breakfast and still be back in the office by mid morning!
Get your colleagues and start training now – together you can get fit, have fun, and
support an organisation that makes a difference to so many lives.
Who Can Participate?
The Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge is a corporate event specifically designed
for the local business community. We are encouraging sponsors to form a team of
executives or high-energy staff members from their organisation to participate in either
the running or cycling component of the race.
Each team member can choose which course they would to like compete on, run or
cycle, and points will be allocated to them based on their individual performance.
The points will then be used to determine both the winning team and the highest
performing individuals on the day.
In 2013, places are limited to 40 teams of four executives for entry into the Challenge.

How long is the Course?
4
The Running Course
The running component of the Event will comprise a 12km run on a specialist course
around Parramatta Park. Participants in this leg of the Challenge will enjoy an early
morning run through this iconic location and one of Western Sydney’s oldest parks.
The Cycling Course
For those who prefer riding, the cycling component of the Challenge offers a 40km
cycle around the Park on a scenic, purpose built cycleway.
Whether running or cycling, participants get to enjoy the fresh air and scenery while
challenging their bodies and pitting their fitness levels against executives from other
teams!
Pre-Challenge Sessions
Teams are encouraged to start their individual training programs early to make sure
they are ready for the event. However, to get your teams in peak physical condition,
and to make the most of your involvement, Coleman Greig will also be offering a
number of pre-Challenge sessions in Parramatta Park to help inspire and motivate you
to perform!
The sessions will not only improve your physical fitness levels, they will also provide
an opportunity for teams to get to know their competitors, network with other
executives, and meet some of our local sporting heroes.

How does the Fundraising work?
Sponsorship
Businesses can enter the Challenge by taking up a sponsorship package – but remember,
we only have room in 2013 for 40 teams! The Platinum Partner Package provides the
opportunity to enter two teams in the Challenge and a Gold Sponsorship Package allows
you to enter one team of four participants. Further details are on pages 8 - 9 of this
Proposal.
Everyday Hero
Sponsors and their participants in the Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge will also be
able to use ‘Everyday Hero’ as their personal fundraising tool. Teams can set fundraising
objectives and goals and use the Everyday Hero site to promote their involvement, organise
donations and manage the administrative side of the fundraising on their behalf.
By creating team pages on the Everyday Hero website you will be able to send an invitation
to your own network of contacts to support your efforts. Not only will it raise funds for
our charities, it will also allow you to showcase your own efforts and involvement to as
many people as you wish.

Executive Fundraising Breakfast
At the conclusion of the Challenge, there will be an exclusive Executive Fundraising
Breakfast which will be held at the Northcott Function Centre in Parramatta.
Participants and executives from sponsoring organisations are encouraged to attend
the Breakfast and bring their client, or clients, with them to celebrate their involvement,
congratulate the teams and of course raise vital funds for Northcott and St Gabriel’s
School.
Featuring high profile sporting personalities and other well-known faces, the breakfast
will allow sponsors and their guests to mingle with professional athletes and executives
alike, while enjoying the camaraderie that accompanies an event of this nature.
