Halling Description: mushroom Fruiting Body: cap 13.5 cm; stalk central, 27 cm long x 3 mm diameter. Spore Print Color: white. Spores: basidiospores 8.511 x 34.5 µm, elliptical, smooth, hyaline, inamyloid. Diagnostic macroscopic feature: small tough mushroom on sticks or other woodland debris, with reddish brown cap, and stalk that is pale buff towards apex and reddish brown to black towards base, densely covered overall with fine white hairs Diagnostic microscopic feature: sterile cells on gill margin to 40 µm long, with projections; cap hyphae in KOH with bands of brown pigment eastern North Americacommon Nutritional Mode: saprobe Substrate: on woody debris, logs, nut husks, leaves Habitat: deciduous woods Fruiting Season: spring, summer, fall

Gymnopus subnudus (Ellis:Pk.) Halling

Description:

mushroom Fruiting Body: cap 1­3.5 cm; stalk central, 2­7 cm

long x 3 mm diameter. Spore Print Color: white.Spores: basidiospores 8.5­11 x 3­4.5 µm,elliptical, smooth, hyaline, inamyloid.

Diagnostic macroscopic feature: small toughmushroom on sticks or other woodland debris,with reddish brown cap, and stalk that is pale bufftowards apex and reddish brown to black towardsbase, densely covered overall with fine white hairs

Diagnostic microscopic feature: sterile cells on gillmargin to 40 µm long, with projections; caphyphae in KOH with bands of brown pigment
