City of Hawley Newsletter Aug ‘19
TUESDAY, AUGUST 6th is NIGHT TO UNITE!
Please join us for the 11th Annual Night to Unite in Hawley. Sponsored by the
Minnesota Crime Prevention Association, AAA, and the Hawley Police
Department, Night to Unite celebrates and strengthens neighborhood and
community partnerships. We will gather at Westgate Park on Tuesday, August
6th from 5pm to 8pm for good food, fun entertainment and great visiting with
each other. We will provide a free meal to those who attend along with bounce
houses for children, face painting and more. Night to Unite supports the idea
that crime prevention is an inexpensive, effective tool in strengthening police
and community partnerships. Other safety departments will be at the event to
include: Fire Department; Sheriff’s Dept; and HERT.
Night to Unite is designed to:
1. Get to know one another in your neighborhood;
2. Build neighborhood involvement by bringing
police and communities together; and bring
awareness to crime prevention and local law
enforcement efforts!
We invite the Hawley community and area residents
to become involved in our Night to Unite activities.
Please plan on attending on August 6th, 2019 from 5pm to 8pm. For more
information, or questions pertaining to Night to Unite or how to get involved,
contact Officer Scott Steer, Night to Unite coordinator, at (218) 483-4666.

IMPROVEMENT
PLANS FOR 2021
The Park Board is
budgeting, saving
money, and planning
to redo the walking
path in Westgate Park
in 2021.
It will cost about
$50,000 to take out
the worn-out
bituminous walking
path and replace it
with an 8’ wide
concrete walking path.
The concrete surface
should be much
smoother and last
longer.
We hope you enjoy
the outdoors and visit
Hawley’s Parks.
