(4) Carry out other duties of an "office" nature The people we are looking for will have a deep and detailed understanding of the aboriginal people and the ability to communicate effectively with them and to interpret their requirements to the Department. Strong northerly winds pushed the flood waters of the lake to a new level against the earth 'and stone embankment which pro- tects the railway. The lake water at that level would have inundated a short section of the rail- way had it not been raised up by several feet during the last two months. At the same time suffic- ient rain fell to cause storm water to pond against the heightened railway em- bankment and rise to rail level at a few places where o'l·iginal drainage patterns h'ave ' been altered by the ea1,th works done to pro- tect the railway from dam- age by the lake water. Only minor damage was sustained and rail services were not affected. Lake Eyre South is con- tinuing to fill at predicted rates. The calm wa,ter level at present is a few inches below the orignal rail level at what was the lowest point of the railway.
