ABOUT US - PARTICIPANT FAQS Nyirrwa Murrgurlayi is a large, comfortable house with 12 bedrooms 3 bathrooms and shared kitchen, dining and lounge areas. The outdoor area includes BBQ, tennis table and sheltered gardens perfect for relaxing and having a yarn with friends and family. The Department of Communities (Housing) funds our Employment and Education Housing (EEH) program at Nyirrwa Murrgurlayi. Nyirrwa Murrgurlayi provides a home away from home where participants can reach their employment and training goals. Interested employers and trainers are encouraged to contact the Nyirrwa Murrgurlayi team to discuss opportunities to refer suitable candidates to our program. WHAT DO WE PROVIDE PARTICIPANTS? 24 hour on site staff Support to maintain employment or training Guidance to improve life skills such as literacy and numeracy, cooking, budgeting and time management Help with improving work skills such as reliability and communication Assistance with overcoming any barriers or concerns Referral to other agencies Affordable board and lodging A safe and quiet living environment that is drug and alcohol free WHAT'S EXPECTED OF PARTICIPANTS? WHAT DOES IT COST TO STAY?

Rent is calculated on income

Never more than $150 per week concession or $250 per week

employed

Security deposit of $10 paid weekly 

Nightly rate applies if you're sttaying less than 3 weeks

(conditions apply) 

We charge board and lodging so food and bills like water andelectricity are included.

Some people pay less, so phone us if the cost is stoppingyou from applying.

Return the form with proof of income

Arrange a time to meet, take a tour and find out about our

program

Lots of people want a room at Nyirrwa Murrgurlayi. We need toknow if you are eligible and ready for what we offer.

If you are ready and want to move in, we will call you when a roomis available.

HOW LONG CAN I STAY?You can stay for up to two years or until your training is completed.We’d like a month's notice if you decide to leave. If it’s not workingout, we could be able to help find you somewhere else to live.

I'VE BEEN ACCEPTED! WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Sign agreements

Arrange to pay your board and lodging

Complete an assessment of your needs and goals

You’ll be asked to meet with our Case Support Worker to:

On your first day you’ll receive a welcome pack with information,keys and bed linen. Staff will help you settle in and get to know theother participants.

Our Case Support Worker will meet with you in your first week tohelp you plan for your success.
