CASE NARRATIVE

Report Number: 280-54917-1
With the exceptions noted as flags or footnotes, standard analytical protocols were followed in the analysis of the samples and no
problems were encountered or anomalies observed. In addition all laboratory quality control samples were within established control
limits, with any exceptions noted below. Each sample was analyzed to achieve the lowest possible reporting limit within the constraints of
the method. In some cases, due to interference or analytes present at high concentrations, samples were diluted. For diluted samples,
the reporting limits are adjusted relative to the dilution required.
Calculations are performed before rounding to avoid round-off errors in calculated results.
All holding times were met and proper preservation noted for the methods performed on these samples, unless otherwise detailed in the
individual sections below.
RECEIPT
The samples were received on 05/01/2014; the samples arrived in good condition, properly preserved and on ice. The temperatures of
the coolers at receipt time were 0.5º C and 3.0º C.
The 1-Methyl-2-pyrrilidinone analysis by method 8270C was subcontracted to the TestAmerica Canton laboratory located at, 4101 Shuffel
Street NW, North Canton, OH 44720.
The Butyl Carbitol analysis by method 8015C was subcontracted to the TestAmerica Savannah laboratory located at, 5102 LaRoche
Avenue, Savannah, GA 31404.
VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS (GC-MS) - METHOD 8260B
No difficulties were encountered.
SEMIVOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS (GC-MS) - METHOD 8270C
Samples SV-01 - SV-10 (280-54917-1)[200X] and SV-01 - SV-10 (280-54917-1)[400X] required dilution prior to analysis due to high analyte
concentrations. As such, the surrogate recovery could not be calculated, because the extract was diluted beyond the ability to quantitate a
recovery. The reporting limits have been adjusted accordingly.
The LCS associated with analysis batch 280-129793 exhibited a percent recovery above the QC control limits for 2-Nitrophenol. This is an
indicator that data may be biased high. As no detectable concentrations are present in the associated samples, corrective action is
deemed unnecessary. Usability of the sample data is not compromised.
Insufficient sample volume was available to perform a matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate duplicate (MS/MSD) associated with prep batch
280-129221. The acceptable LCS analyte recoveries provide evidence that the laboratory is performing the method within acceptable
guidelines.
No other difficulties were encountered.
NONHALOGENATED ORGANIC USING GC/FID (DIRECT AQUEOUS INJECTION) - METHOD 8015C
No difficulties were encountered.

from another job and exhibited recoveries outside control limits for Ammonia. The presence of the '4' qualifier in the data indicates
analytes where the concentration in the unspiked sample exceeded four times the spiking amount. Method precision and accuracy have
been verified by the acceptable LCS/LCSD analysis data; therefore, corrective action is deemed unnecessary.
The matrix spike / matrix spike duplicate (MS/MSD) samples associated with analysis batch 280-224839 were performed on SV-01 -
SV-10 (280-54917-1) and exhibited recoveries outside control limits for Total Phosphorus as PO4. The presence of the '4' qualifier in the
data indicates analytes where the concentration in the unspiked sample exceeded four times the spiking amount. Method precision and
accuracy have been verified by the acceptable LCS/LCSD analysis data; therefore, corrective action is deemed unnecessary.
The matrix spike / matrix spike duplicate (MS/MSD) samples associated with analysis batch 280-225201 were performed on a sample
from another job and the MSD exhibited recoveries outside control limits for COD. Method precision and accuracy have been verified by
the acceptable LCS/LCSD analysis data; therefore, corrective action is deemed unnecessary.
No other difficulties were encountered.
