BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEHEM1 EESEEVE SYSTEM

June 10, 1958

Note to Users of H.12 Belease, Changes In Commercial and Industrial Loans by Industry

The attached tables show estimates of the dollar amount and number of business loans outstanding on October 5> 1955 at member banks supplying data for the Board's weekly release, Changes in Commercial and Industrial Loans by Industry (H.12), and at all other member banks. These estimates are based on data obtained in the 1955 Business Loan Survey. The 200 banks that regularly furnish data for this release accounted for about three-fourths of the dollar amount and one-third the number of business loans outstanding at all member banks on the Survey date.

These tables are being distributed to those on the H.12 release mailing list in the belief that the value of the weekly change data would be enhanced by the availability of bench-mark data for the banks reporting this information and of comparable data for nonreporting banks. Similar bench-mark data for October 16, 1957* the date of a subsequent business loan survey, will be made available at a later date.
