Horizon 2020 is het programma van de Europese Commissie om Europees onderzoek en innovatie te stimuleren. Het totaalbudget voor de periode 2014-2020 is ongeveer €80 miljard .

• Horizon 2020 loopt sinds 1 januari 2014 en is de opvolger van het Zevende Kaderprogramma (KP7).

• Met Horizon 2020 willen de Europese Commissie en de Nederlandse overheid wetenschap en innovatie stimuleren in het bedrijfsleven en de academische wereld. Zo kunnen zij het concurrentievermogen van Europa vergroten. Daarnaast willen zij het bedrijfsleven en de academische wereld uitdagen om samen oplossingen te bedenken voor maatschappelijke vraagstukken die in heel Europa spelen. Bijvoorbeeld voor klimaatverandering, vergrijzing, voedselveiligheid en betaalbare duurzame energie.

• De Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland is nationaal contactpunt (NCP) voor dit programma.
