MEGANDozier-Singleton

TERRYDillardDillard, the Greatest Greyhound for the 1979-80 year, was a first team all-district and honorable mention All-American selection. A four-year starter in the Hounds’ defensive backfield, he also had three brothers play football at ENMU. In the 1978 season, he was the third-leading tackler on the squad with 8.6 per game. Dillard earned the Distinguished ROTC Cadet Award at Eastern and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the

Megan Dozier-Singleton is the first soccer player at Eastern to earn induction to the Hall of Honors, as the program debuted in fall 2003. Dozier not only played in the first ENMU soccer game, but also tallied the team’s first goal and dished out the first assist. Dozier-Singleton immediately made Eastern a force to be reckoned with and was a four-time All-Lone Star Conference player with three first-team selections. She still holds the team record

DONALD ‘DOC’ElderFor two decades, Elder has added to the listening pleasure for Greyhound and Zia fans by inserting historical anecdotes and pop-culture references into his football, baseball and basketball broadcasts. In addition to his broadcasting duties, he is a history professor at ENMU and has taken on the responsibilities of a sports communication class over the last few years which allowed students the opportunity to take part in his broadcasts. Merrill Adams-Ellis led the 1976 women’s rodeo team to a Southwest Regional crown and a runner-up finish at the College National Finals Rodeo. She was a four-year qualifier to the CNFR in breakaway roping, barrel racing and goat tying. Adams-Ellis has contributed scholarship money to the ENMU rodeo program for several years and presented the first Merrill Adams Rodeo Scholarship, in 2011, which has become a yearly presentation to a deserving rodeo student. She was

In 2012, Adams Ellis was inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame. She also coached the Southwest Texas Junior College rodeo team, after graduating from ENMU in 1976 with a degree in journalism.

MICHAELEckhartMichael Eckhart was a three-time All-American for the Greyhound swimming team in the 500, 1,000 and 1,650-yard freestyle events (1972-1973, 1974), setting ENMU records in those events. He was also a 1972 qualifier for the United States Olympic trials. He earned all-conference status in the 1,650-yard free style, 500 freestyle, 400-yard freestyle relay, and 800-yard freestyle relay. Bobby Rodriguez was the Lone Star Conference South Division Offensive Back of the Year in 1999 and first team All-LSC after he guided the squad to the division title with a 6-3 record, which included a 24-16 win in the Wagon Wheel game against West Texas A&M University. During that season, he passed for 1,229 yards and 11 touchdowns in the Greyhounds’ option-based offense. In ENMU’s home opener, he passed for 226 yards, tossed

While at Eastern, Eckhart earned both his undergraduate and master’s degree in teaching, which led to a professional career as a school teacher and principal.

TERRYSweetTerry Sweet will be inducted posthumously. He will always be remembered fondly as one of the top players to appear in a Greyhound uniform. He lettered as a defensive end for head coach Jack Scott for ENMU from 1973-76 and was chosen as the team’s Best Defensive Player in 1976. Sweet’s play drew nationwide attention, as he was an All-

America candidate in 1974 and 1976, in addition to earning a spot on the University of Northern Colorado’s All-Opponent Team in 1975.
