A hamburger with just a top bun, meat, and a bottom bun would be awfully dry and tasteless, right?

The same's true of a paragraph!

We need details and elaboration to support each of our reasons. We can think of these details/elaboration as the fixings!

We can use a graphic organizer of the Hamburger Model to help us plan our writing:

Overall, it is not a good idea to give homework on weekends.

    1) They have too many other things to do.

    2) They have worked hard the other nights of the week and need a break.

    3) Most homework is just busy work anyway.

I don't think students should be given homework on the weekends.

Directions:1) Read the paragraph. Underline the introduction in green, the reasons in blue, and the conclusion in red. Pull the parts of the Hamburger Model to see if you're right!

    Should schools have soda machines?

Directions: Place the sentences in the right order to form a goodhamburger paragraph.

    Jumbled Paragraph

I think schools should not have soda machines available.

First, they could lead to students consuming more sugar.

Kids already eat too much sugar and added sugar would make them hyper.

Second, kids would probably drink soda instead of juice, milk, and water.

Soda machines could also lead to greater messes in the cafeteria.

So you see, having soda machines would be bad more students and schools.
