3.2 Battery
1: Open Battery door
2: Move the battery latch upwards
CAUTION
For safety reasons, the HAMILTON-C2 switches automatically ON when powered. If the battery capacity is to low, the selftest during start up fails. Therefore switch OFF by pressing the ON/OFF button for 10 seconds and connect AC power cord of the HAMILTON-C2. Then start up again.

Connecting to AC powerNote• To prevent unintentional disconnection of the power cord, make sure it is well seated into the ventilator’s socket and secured with the power cord retaining clip (Figure 2-10).• The HAMILTON-C2 does not require protective earth grounding, because it is a class II device, as classified according to IEC 60601-1.

Connect the HAMILTON-C2 to an outlet that supplies ac power between 100 and 240 V, 50/60 Hz. Always check the reliability of the ac outlet. The AC po-wer symbol in the bottom righthand corner of the screen is displayed with a frame around it.

Starting the HAMILTON-C2 the first time, you will be ask to enter your local date and time by the alarm message „Realtime Clock Failure“. In order to avoid the alarm, start up the HAMILTON-C2 into service software and set your local date and time.

Do or observe...
Connect ventilator to ac or dc power and oxygen supply. Assemble the pa-tient breathing circuit.Switch on power
Choose language over the configuration set-ting.
Set date and time.
Open System -> Tests & calib win-dow. Select and run the Tightness test, then the Flow Sensor cali-bration. Close window.
Generate an alarm (for example, by disconnec-ting mains power).
Install battery
Mount DISS or NIST connector
Resolve the alarm situ-ation (for example, re-connect mains power).
If necessary, run o2 cell calibration. Close window.
Make sure the ventila-tor is in standby, and select Preop check from the Patient setup window.
Breathing circuit is as-sembled correctly.
When ventilator is swit-ched on, buzzer sounds and the red alarm lamp flashes. After the self-test is passed the alarm lamp flashes again.
These tests pass.
