Purpose ThepurposeofHHSWistoprovideChristcenteredhighquality,academicallychallenging,spirituallyupliftingclassestosupplement,support,andencourage,butnottoreplace,whatisbeingtaughtathome.Wearenotaschoolanddonotintendtobeone.Byworkshopwemean“abrief,intensiveeducationalprogramforarelativelysmallgroupofpeopleinagivenfieldthatemphasizesparticipationinproblemsolvingefforts.” Theworkshopsareauniqueeducationalexperiencethatcombinesahighlevelofcommitmentfromparents,students,andteachers.Itisaministrythatishighlycommittedtothesupportofhomeeducation,anditisintendedonlytoaidandsupplementwhatdedicatedfamiliesarealreadypursuingathome. TheworkshopsaredesignedtomeettheneedsoffamilieswithchildrenagesK-12.Preschoolclassesareofferedstrictlyforthosefamilieswithregisteredoldersiblings.SpiritualObjective ThespiritualobjectiveofHeritageHomeSchoolWorkshopsistoprovideanacademicenvironmentthatsupportstheChristianfaith.HHSWinstructorsandboardmembersmust,therefore,understandthefoundationalfunctionoftheHHSWStatementofFaithandbeinagreementwiththeStatementofFaithortheNiceneCreed.ItisexpectedthatatleastoneparenthasapersonalrelationshipwithJesusChrist.HowDoesHHSWOperate? TheBoardofDirectorsismadeupofagroupofmenandwomenwhoarenominatedandapprovedbytheBoard.TheBoardservestheHeritageCommunityinavarietyofways.TheBoardoverseestheadministrationoftheprogram,providingaplacewhereindependentcontractors/teacherscanconductclassesforthehomeschoolcommunity.TheBoarddeterminespolicyregardingdresscodeandproperconductandenforcestheseregulations. BeingrootedintheChristianfaithanddoctrine,resolutionofanyproblemsshouldbeasdescribedinMatthew18.Wearenotachurch.Matthew18issimplyourguidingprinciple.Ifaparenthasanissuewithateacher–theparent&teachershouldtrytoworkitout–ifitcannotberesolved,theBoardmaybebroughtinASALASTRESORT.Ifonefamilyhasanissuewiththeconductofanotherfamily,theyshouldtrytoworkitoutandbringintheBoardASALASTRESORT.Ifachildhasaproblemwithotherchildren,again,thosechildrenandfamiliesshouldtrytoworkthingsout,andbringintheBoardASALASTRESORT. ADDINGANDDROPPINGCLASSES
HowdoIdropaclass?
FallclassesandNEWclassesaddedinthespringareeligiblefora3weekdropoption.Ifyoudecidetodropaclass,youmustnotifytheteacherpriortothefourthweekofclass.Youmustpayfortheclassesthatoccurredpriortoteachernotification.(ClassFee/32)x#ofclassespriortodrop.Iftheteacherdoesnotreceivenotificationofthedroppriortothe4thclass,thetwosemestertuitionpaymentsmustbepaid.Notifytheteacherandmakethechangestoyourfamily’sscheduleonthewebsiteifyoudecidetodropaclass.IfyouchoosetodroptheclassatsemesterlettheteacherknowthatyouwillnotbecontinuingbythelastclassinDecember.
HowdoIaddaclass?
Youhavetheoptiontoaddaclasstoyourscheduleatanytimewithteacherapproval.Notifytheteacherandmakethechangestoyourfamily’sscheduleonthewebsiteifyoudecidetoaddaclass.Ifyouareaddingaclass,afterinstructionhasbegun,youmustalsopaythedepositandclassfeesforthenewclassyouarejoining.Youmayaddanewclassatsemester.Thethreeweektrialperiodwillapplyonlytothisnewclassaddedatsecondsemester.

WHATISTHEPARENTALINVOLVEMENTATHERITAGE?HHSWisacooperativeeffortonthepartofparents,theirchildren,andteachers.Parentsareresponsibleforthefollowing:1.ParentalPresence
• Aparentfromeachfamilymustbeonthepremisesfortheentiretimethathis/herchild(ren)areinthebuilding.Parentmustsign-inuponarrival.Ifyouaretakingadvantageofour“kidshare”program,youmustfillouttheproperpaperworkattheboardtableuponarrival.
2.SupervisionofChildren
• Iftheparentisteachingaclass,nurserywillbeprovidedforyoungerchildren.Childrentoooldforthenurserymaybeinthecareofanotherparentwhiletheparentisteaching.
• IfparentsaregoingtoparticipateinaBiblestudyorvisitaclasstheymusteitherplacetheirchildinsomeoneelse’scareorplacetheirchildinthenursery.Parentsmaynotputtheirchildinthenurseryunlesstheyareinclassobserving,servingasavolunteer,teaching,orwillingtobeinthenurseryaswell.

• ParentsareallowedtoleavethepropertywhiletheirstudentsareinclassiftheyfillouttheproperKIDSHAREform.
• IfyouareunabletocometoHeritagebutaresendingyourchildrenwitharesponsibleparty(18orolder),orifyouaregoingtoleavethepropertyforanyreasonyoumustaskanotherparentorresponsiblepartytocareforyourchildren.FillouttheKIDSHAREformwhichisdownloadablefromthewebsiteoravailableattheboardtablepriortotheabsence(ifpossible).Wemusthaveavalidparentsignatureonthisdocument.
4.ServiceRequirement
• Parentsarerequiredtocompleteserviceopportunitiesthroughouttheschoolyear.Registrationisnotcompleteuntilyouhavesignedupforaserviceopportunity.TheseopportunitieswillbeassignedbasedonHeritage’sneedandeachfamily’sclassscheduleifyoufailtochooseanopportunityatregistration.An$8.00non-servicejobfeewillbechargedtoyouwhen/ifyouareunabletofulfillyourservicejobandcannotfindasubstitutetoreplaceyou.Ifyouwantto“optout”ofaserviceopportunitythefeeis$260fortheyear.

sistersinChrist(ITimothy2:9);• topromoteaseriousacademicatmosphereandeliminatepotentialdistractionstolearning;
and• toencouragethedevelopmentofGod-honoringrelationshipsbasedonindividualcharacter

A. Allstudentswillbeheldresponsiblefortheiractionsandshallconductthemselvesinkeepingwiththeirlevelofmaturity,showingregardforestablishedauthorityandtherightsandwelfareofothers.Wecallthislivingbythe“Lawoflove”.Weaskthatstudentsseekexcellence,behonest,usecleanspeech,andbecourteousandkindtoall.
B. Whilewerecognizethatparentsandstudentsmayhavedifferentconvictionsondatingrelationships,weaskthatstudentsrefrainfrompublicdisplaysofaffectionwhileatHeritageonMondaysinanefforttoeliminatedistractionsfromschoolworkandtomaintainaprofessionalacademicenvironment.
C. Ifastudenthasafreeperiod,he/shemaygotoFamilyroom,sitquietlyinthehallway,oroutsideinniceweather(withparentsupervision).AllstudentswillremainonNewCovenantBibleChurchpropertyduringtheirtimeatHHSW.HHSWandNewCovenantBibleChurchareNOTresponsibleforanyinjuriesoraccidentswhilechildrenareoutside.
D. Anystudentfoundwithpossessionofanytypeoffirearm,knife,tobacco,alcohol,ordrugwillbeaskedtoleavethepremisesimmediatelyandwillbeconsideredfordismissalfromtheworkshops.
Dismissal
1. HabitualMisconductThepurposeoftheBoardisnottopoliceorbaby-sitthechildren.FamilieswhosechildrenarehabituallynotincompliancewithpoliciesoutlinedintheHandbookwillbeaskedtoleaveHeritageHomeSchoolWorkshops.
2. GrossMisconductGreatermisconductcouldresultinimmediatedismissalofastudentandhis/herfamilyfromtheHeritageorganization.TheBoardreservestherighttodismissanystudentorfamilyatanytimetomaintainhighbiblicalstandards.

OurstatementoffaithconcernsthePersonandWorkofJesusChristasrevealedintheScriptures.
TherearemanyothertruthstaughtintheBible,overwhichgodlymenhavedifferedinopinion
andunderstanding.Therefore,thisisnotastatementofallthatisimportanttobelieve,butit
representsthebasicprinciplesuponwhichtheHHSWwasfoundedandwillcontinuetooperate
(Romans15:5-6).
