Handlist of western medieval manuscripts currently or formerly in the collections of Sir Alfred Chester and Edith Beatty Manuscripts were usually given multiple numbers during their time in the Beattys’ collection. For the purposes of this list in part one the numbers given in Eric Millar’s catalogue will be used as the main reference (although other numbers will be listed where these are known). The Millar references are the numbers found in the manuscripts, usually at the top of the inside cover or first flyleaf. Entries in this handlist are presented as follows: Major reference number (alternative numbers) Author and title of work, in the form (or forms) in which it appears in catalogue entries for the MS Acq. = Source and date from which the MS was acquired with price paid if known. collections of Sir Alfred Chester and Edith Beatty

Manuscripts were usually given multiple numbers during their time in the Beattys’ collection. For

the purposes of this list in part one the numbers given in Eric Millar’s catalogue will be used as the

main reference (although other numbers will be listed where these are known). The Millar

references are the numbers found in the manuscripts, usually at the top of the inside cover or first

flyleaf.

Entries in this handlist are presented as follows:
