Handout “K1” to Accompany PROJECT 3.2 Part A - RPL
Plan and Conduct an RPL Assessment (First read the instructions on Pg 101 – 102 of the Workbook)
Step 1
Develop and document an Assessment Plan based on the Learning Program Plan you developed in Project 1.1 (Unit 1).
Use the Template provided on Pg 2 and 3 of this handout or use Pg 146 and 147 in the
Workbook.
Refer to the Sample Assessment Plan on Pg 77 of the Participant Manual as a guide
Step 2
Develop or modify an Assessment Instrument to support the Assessment Plan developed in
Step 1.
Use the Template provided on Pg 4 of this handout or use Pg 154 in the Workbook.
Refer to the sample Assessment Instruments on Pg 102 of the Participant Manual.
Step 3
Develop a Competency Map/Matrix; use Pg 3 of this handout. See sample on Pg 72 of Manual.
Step 4
Conduct the RPL evidence gathering assessment role-play in pairs.
The person taking the role of the assessor must provide the documentation to the
candidate for the role- play.
Assessor The assessor conducts an evidence gathering assessment using the assessment
instrument developed in step 2.
Read and follow the “steps to take “ on Pg 102
Place your name in the “Assessor name” area on Pg 2, 4, 5, and 6
Conduct the assessment using the assessment instrument
complete paperwork and get signatures from candidate
Complete “Record of Assessment Results” form on Pg 5
Give Candidate Pg 6 and request to complete “Feedback Form”
Collect completed documentation from candidate
Change roles and repeat role-play.
Candidate Candidate to role-play assessment process with assessor:
Sign assessment paperwork where needed
Complete the “Assessment Feedback Form” Pg 6 and return to assessor
Change roles and repeat role-play.
