Thank you for all your support during these

past few weeks of remote and flexible learning.

Following advice from the Victorian Chief

Health Officer, The Victorian Government has

announced that student, teachers and support

staff can to return face-to-face teaching.

STAGED RETURN

Schools will commence a staged

return from remote and flexible learning from

Tuesday 26th May 2020.

To support all school staff to prepare for the

transition, Monday 25th May will be a pupil

free day. This is important to enable the

planning necessary to ensure the successful

transition back to school can be completed.

The return will take place in two stag-

es. This will give the Victorian Chief

Health Officer and Government time to mon-

itor and evaluate the effects that the staged

return to school has on the increased move-

ment of people and transmission within the

community.

Stage 1: 25 May – 5 June

In the first stage, students in Prep, Grade 1

and Grade 2, senior secondary (Year 11 and

12) Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning

(VCAL) and Victorian Certificate of Education

(VCE) students and all students enrolled in spe-

cialist schools will return to school from Tues-

day 26 May.

Remote and flexible learning will continue for

all students in Grades 3 to 6 and Years 7 to

10 until Tuesday 9th June.

During Stage 1, the existing model of on-site

schooling for students who cannot be

supervised at home and vulnerable children will

remain in place. This means, a weekly onsite

application form must still be submitted, for

students in Years 3 to 6, who have to attend

school from 26th May to the 9th June.

Stage 2: from 9 June

All other grades and year levels will

return to school from Tuesday 9

June.

Once a year level has returned, all students will

be expected to attend school as normal. This

means if you choose to keep your child/children

home after their year level has returned to

on-site schooling, we can no longer support

their learning from home.

This same approach is being taken by all

government schools in Victoria.

To support the health and wellbeing of all our

students and staff, our school will continue an

enhanced cleaning routine and will encourage

frequent hand washing.

It is vital that if you child is ill or is feeling

unwell, they must not attend school. They must

remain home and seek medical advice. Please

note: this is not negotiable for the safety of all

of our students and staff.

While the Chief Health Officer has advised that

students will not be required to maintain phys-

ical distancing at school, there will be a number

of important changes to our school operations,

consistent with health advice. This will apply

until further notice. I will provide more detail

about our local school context as soon as possi-

ble, but it is important to note that changes

will include:

adjusted arrangements for drop off and

pick up locations; and

restrictions on access to the school site for

anyone other than immediate school staff

and students.

We understand that some families may feel

anxious about this move back to classroom

teaching and learning. I can assure you that

this decision has been taken on the basis of the

best health advice available to our State.

More information about the return to school

and coronavirus (COVID-19) can be found on

the Department’s website, which will continue

to be updated:

department/Pages/coronavirus.aspx

Thank you for your continued support and

patience during this time. We look forward to

welcoming our students back to the classroom.

Year 6 to Year 7 Transition Virtual

Information Session for Greater Shepparton

Secondary College (G.S.S.C.)

Last night families of Grade 6 students had the

opportunity to join a Live Virtual Information

session, hosted by the McGuire Campus

Principal John Sciacca and Executive Principal

Genevieve Simmons. They provided an

overview of the whole College and also specific

details for potential Year 7 students and their

families.

If any of our families would like to provide

feedback to me regarding this session, please

send me an email and I will pass this on to

John and Genevieve on behalf of Kialla Central.

Placement forms are due back to K.C.P.S. by

Friday 29th May.

Thank you for jobs being done at K.C.P.S.

Thank you to Lachy and Dale McCully for

spraying our weeds last week.

Dean Moulsdale for installing our new SMART

TVs in Mrs Moulsdale’s, Miss Baker’s and Miss

Posteraro’s Rooms.

Scout and Monster School Raffle

As you are aware, we are participating

in the Scout & School Monster Raffle.

Tickets are $2.00 each, however, for every

ticket we sell we get $1.50 donated to Kialla

Central. Each family was issued one book of 10

tickets to sell prior to the holidays.

There are still quite a number of books

outstanding. We are accountable for every book

so they need to returned sold or unsold.

Please drop your book and/or money into the

locked letter box near the front door of the

office - drop them in there whenever suits.

If your book has been lost please send me an

email telling me this is the case. Thanks for

your assistance and support.

For all of our Kialla Central P.S. Footy

Tippers we will let you know what our

Footy Tipping Competition is going to look like

as a result of COVID-19. I’m sure Bomber 10

is waiting anxiously for further updates from

the AFL. Rumour has it the return for Round 2

will be my beloved Magpies and the Tigers …
