Happy Fall ya’all!

1

KindergartenThese students are amazing! We are starting our 6th sight word (I, see, can, the, we, a); ask your child to find some of these words in books. We have been blending consonant-vowel-consonant words and finding secret partners within numbers. We’ve learned what nouns are and can find one in a simple sentence. Kinder has been busy learning about our 5 senses and have been building relationships with friends. Wow, we’ve been busy!

FIRST GRADE First graders are working really hard on boosting their reading skills. We have just finished up with some of our

short vowel sounds and blends (bl, cl, pl). We are now ready to finish short vowels and dive in to digraphs (th, sh, ng) and ending blends (nd, st, nk). We will be busy with learning different types of nouns (“naming” words), and the components of a story. In Math, we will learn our doubles rap (ask your student if they can sing it to you in the next couple weeks) and we are dipping our toes into the subtraction pool. The first grade teachers are really proud of how hard the students are working and we look forward to the leaps and bounds they will make next quarter. We look forward to meeting with all our parents and students at the end of the month for parent teacher conferences!

2nd GradeWhat a fast 1st Quarter! So far in our Wonders Reading

series we have learned about key details, characters, setting, and events in stories. We can recognize different parts and types of sentences. Our vocabulary is expanding each week. In math we have learned about measurement and place value. We will be heading into 2 and 3 digit addition and subtraction. Come join us for the the Fall Festival Oct. 19 from 5:30 to 7:30. 2 hours of fun!Parent Teacher Conferences will be held at the end of October. Be on the lookout for the sign up.

Ms. Jack’s Class has been spotted at the John Deere Museum by a blacksmith named Erik.

3rd GradeOur third graders are doing an amazing job! Students have

been testing their researching skills and learning about the landmarks around our beautiful country. Some have even made Google slide presentations on their Google drive! We are continuing to practice our multiplication facts and learning some new songs along the way to help us remember.

It is amazing that the first quarter is almost over! Parent teacher conferences will be coming soon, so please keep an eye out for communication from your child’s teacher to schedule this important meeting. Happy Fall!

4th GradeCan you believe it? We are just about done with the first quarter and moving on to the second quarter! Our first field trip is approaching as the students will take their first college tour of Yavapai College! The students get to see several aspects of college life while touring several departments Yavapai College has to offer. It’s never too early to start thinking about college, and Yavapai College is a great place to start! The students will also be attending the matinee performance of Doktor Kaboom! And the Wheel of Science. Our first spirit and pride will be October 19th, and we look forward to honoring the many first quarter successes the students have accomplished. Mark your calendars for Granville’s annual Harvest Festival also on October 19th from 5:30-7:30! Play some games and have some fun! We look forward to seeing you there!

5th GradeThis October the 5th grade will continue their

study of Force and Motion in Science. So far we have looked at the different types of forces and what motion is. This last week we experimented on how force can change the distances that a toy car can travel.

We will continue to learn about an experiment on Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion, simple machines, and the Law of Gravity as we go through the month of October

6th Grade

In 6th grade social studies, we are coming up to an Egyptian project on mummification. We will be mummifying chickens in class. This will be an experience that your child will never forget! If you get a chance please thank the Walmart in Prescott. They are going to donate most of the chickens needed for the project. Thank you so much for your support and keep those supplies coming in. If you need another list for the supplies please just ask. Thank you from your 6th grade team
