Engineers' Day was celebrated on 15th September 2016 to commemorate the birthday of an eminent

engineer, Sir Mokshagundam Vishvesvaraya. A wizard of engineering, he is also regarded as the

precursor of economic planning in India. On this occasion, a technical event, “Open House” (15 – 16

September 2016) was organised at JIET Group of Institutions. It served as platform for the students

to unleash their technical and innovative streak in the form of charts, projects and working models

(Live and Static). Various competitions were conducted on the day. The esteemed guests that

graced the occasion were Mr. Pankaj Bhandari (Senior General Manager, BSNL), Prof. O.P.N. Kalla

(Director, International Centre for Radio Science (ICRS)), and Mr. Ashok Kumar Godara (Executive

Director (Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI)), Dr. S.R. Vadera (Director, Defence

Laboratory, Jodhpur) and Dr. K.L. Sharma (Former Head, Dept. of ECE, MBM Engineering College,

Jodhpur)

Around 46 schools from Jodhpur visited JGI and around 70 projects and 24 charts were displayed by

the school students. A paper presentation competition was also organised.

In nutshell, the two day event was a grand success with the active participation of both the school

students and the students of JGI.

Blood Donation Camp“Tears of a mother cannot save her Child. But your Blood can.”

To mark the birth anniversary of the Indian philosopher, Pandit

Deendayal Upadhyay; a blood donation camp was organized on

Sunday, 25th September, 2016 at JIET Convention Centre

(JCC), in association with Ambika Hospital, Jodhpur. The camp

was organized by The National Service Scheme (NSS) under the

aegis of Social Welfare Club, JIET. The program was graced by

Director General (JGI), Er. Navneet Agarwal, Campus Directors

of the respective campuses, Prof.( Dr.) Rajendra Karwa,

Prof. (Dr.) K.R.Chaudhary, Registrar Dr. Rakesh Kothari,

Dy. Registrar Mr.Mukesh Mathur, Proctor Prof.Manish Bafna,

and faculty and staff members of JGI.

This camp witnessed an ample number of students and teachers

participating in this philanthropic act. A total of 101 units of blood

were donated on this day. Refreshments were provided to the

students, faculty and staff who were part of the camp.

Spic - MacayVishal Krishna Concert

In order to foster the exchange of Indian values

generate awareness of our rich culture heritage,

a one and a half hour Khatak performance by

renowned classical dancer of International

acclaim Master Vishal Krishna, along with his

group, was organised at JCC auditorium on 21st

September, 2016 under the aegis of Spic Macay,

a non-political voluntary organisation involved in

harbouring and nurturing traditional Indian art

forms. It was indeed a blissful experience to

witness an artist of astute, who lit the ambience

bright with his mesmerizing dance.

Master Vishal Krishna belongs to the famous

lineage of Shukdeo Maharaj, who is widely

considered the founder of the Banaras Gharana

of Kathak. He is the grandson of Sitara Devi and

son of Pt Mohan Krishna (Younger brother of Pt

Gopi Krishna).

Apart from learning under these great gurus, he

has also studied under Smt Jayanti Mala and Pt.

Ravi Shankar Mishra. The Banaras Gharana of

Kathak has a largely devotional repertoire,

characterised by the exclusive use of Natwari or

dance bols, as differentiated from those of the

table and pakhavaj. This is very ably brought out

by Master Vishal Krishna who, though young in

years shows a remarkable grace and maturity in

his delineation of the art. Vishal has performed

extensively within the country at major festivals

and on prestigious platforms. He has been

awarded with the title of Shringar Mani and the

Pandit Birju Maharaj Sangeet Samriddhi

Samman.

Endowed with an attractive stage presence and

an extremely supple body, his dance invariably

impresses both the connoisseur as well as the

lay audience.

Title of the Research Paper : “Oxidation of Some Unsaturated Acids by

Morpholinium Fluorochromate: A Kinetic and Mechanistic Study”

Name of the Author: I Dr. Garima Goswami (Asst. Prof. (Sr.), Dept. of Chemistry,

Year, JIET)

Journal : Published in the “International Journal of Chemistry” (Vol. 5 (2) (2016),

Page nos. 136 – 144)

The oxidation of maleic, fumaric, crotonic and cinnamic acids by morpholinium

fluorochromate (MFC) in dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO) leads to the formation of corresponding

epoxide. The reaction is of first order with respect to MFC and the acid. Due to non-aqueous nature of

the solvents toluene-p-sulphonic acid (TsOH) was used the source of hydrogen ions. The reaction is

catalysed by hydrogen ions. The hydrogen-ion dependence has the form: kobs = a + b [H+]. The

oxidation of these acids was studied in nineteen different organic solvents. The solvent effect was

analyzed by Kamlet's and Swain's multiparametric equations. Solvent effect indicated the importance

of the cation-solvating power of the solvent. A mechanism involving a three-centre transition state has

been postulated.

Keywords : Halochromates, kinetics, mechanism, oxidation, unsaturated acids.

Title of the Research Paper : “Theory of Quantum Cryptography and Quantum

Quantum Information and Computation is a rapidly evolving field. In this field, laws of

Quantum Physics and information theory bring together to perform tasks which are

unconceivable within the framework of classical physics. It helps in speeding up of

computation and achieving faster and even more secure communication. In this paper, different

protocols for quantum teleportation and theory of Quantum Cryptography are discussed. It is

achievable only by using entangled states which has no classical analogue.

Title of the Research Paper: “Stability Analysis and Numerical

Solution for the Fractional Order Biochemical Reaction Model”

Name of the Authors: Prof. (Dr.) A.M. Khan & Ms. Lalita Mistry

(Dept. of Mathematics, ) I Year

Journal: Published in the International Journal of Bulgaria,

“Nonlinear Analysis and Differential Equations.” (Vol. 4, 2016, Issue

no. 11, Page nos. : 521 – 530).

The present article proposes a fractional order biochemical reaction model for the Michaelis- Menten

Enzyme Kinetic Model (FMIC-MENEKM) resulting from the enzymes reaction process. The numerical

solution for the FMIC-MENEKM is carried out by Mittag-Leffler methods that are in excellent

agreement with those from the classical integer order model.

These results show that the fractional modelling has more advantage than classical integer model. We

also deal with the stability analysis of equilibrium points. The results present the complexity of

enzymes process, which varies for different fractional order derivatives that are shown graphically.

In May 1993, a task force was created at the invitation of the Technical Committee on

Intelligent Control of the IEEE Control Systems Society to look into the area of

Intelligent Control and define what is meant by the term. Its findings are aimed mainly

towards serving the needs of the Control Systems Society; hence the task force has not attempted to

address the issue of intelligence in its generality, but instead has concentrated on deriving working

characterizations of Intelligent Control. Many of the findings however may apply to other disciplines as

well. In the present paper a survey has been done from that time to new era and various systems and

their approaches with future research has been presented.

Heat Transfer Removal from surfaces has a great importance in many engineering applications

including high heat generation rate from heat source, excessive rubbing or high speed flow problem

from solid surface. Fins are being used as an enhancer to facilitate the dissipation of heat from such

surfaces in order to maximize the thermal applicability of material. Although size, shape and

arrangement of fin can be utilized further to enhance the heat transfer phenomenon. In this article,

shape factor of perforation is studied for optimizing heat transfer and navel method are introduced to

find out the optimum shape for which heat transfer can be maximized for given flow condition.

lift, steering, and stabilization. Unlike other aerial vehicles, the quadcopter can achieve vertical flight in a

more stable condition. The quadcopter is not affected by the torque issues that a helicopter experiences

due to the main rotor. Furthermore, due to the quadcopter's cyclic design, it is easier to construct and

maintain the vehicle. As the technology becomes more advanced and more accessible to the public,

many engineers and researchers have started designing and implementing quadcopters for different

uses. The aim of this project is to build and program a quadcopter that can be used to collect GPS

information of a surrounding area.

Seminar's Topic: “Structural Health Monitoring”

Name of the Student: (Final Year, Civil, JIET)Vinod Kumawat

Engineers have always been interested in predicting the performance of the structure

during and after the construction along with the knowledge of its residual life at any

stage of time. Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) is one of the ways to monitor the

structure, assess the damage occurred and predict its residual life. The damage here is

defined as changes to the material and/or geometric properties of a structural system, including changes

to the boundary conditions and system connectivity, which adversely affect the system's performance.

The data obtained from sensors, are installed at various component levels in the structure are processed

to obtain the structural properties such as its natural frequency, mode shapes, time period etc. These

properties are then utilized to determine the degradation in the strength of the structure, assess the

damage and its location and calculate its residual life.
