Staff Professional Development In addition to our regular PBIS

staff trainings, we’ve offered 2 PDs on classroom management of disruptive behaviors, a high area of need at our school. We provided:

Examples of visual cues and helped staff make their own

A list of strategies to use when responding to non-compliance

De-escalation techniques for students who are in crisis

Challenges We Face

Staff buy-in Class Dojo

Punishing/taking away, instead of reteaching

“It’s just another thing…”

Misconceptions about PBIS (lack of consequences, what PBIS is/is not)

Reaching support staff, not just certified teachers Administrative support

Page 20: #HappyInHappyOut - Improving School Climate Through PBIS ...

Our Goals for the Future

Become a PBIS operational school

Become a distinguished school More parental involvement Culturally responsive/empathy training
