HANDYCAM I did the majority of my filming for my music video on the handycam’s. These were very easy to use and were easy to hold so I could get the exact shot that I was aiming for. I could attach these to the tripods which allowed me to get very steady shots. I could also get many handheld shots with this camera as it has a handle which allows you to keep the camera as steady as possible while walking or moving. The disadvantages to this camera was the quality of the video. Although it is clear enough, I couldn’t do various shots like pull focus as there was little depth of field. This reduced the effectiveness of the video as it wasn’t in the best quality which is something that I wanted.

HANDYCAM

I did the majority of my filming for my music video on the handycam’s.

SLR CAMERA

On one occasion, I managed to use this Canon SLR camera to do some filming. This produced a much clearer image at various points throughout the video. I also managed to incorporate a strong pull focus because of the manual lenses. As the shots were clearer, I used some of them on my ancillary texts as they looked much more professional.

The disadvantages of this camera was also the focus. Although I managed to get some amazing shots because of it, I found that when I came to edit the footage, some of it was completely out of focus. Also, my own memory card wasn’t big enough to cope with the amount of frames per second. This caused a disruption to my filming as I had to go and lend a SD card from the college.

TRIPOD

The tripod allowed to get some of the steady shots while she was miming to the song. This made it much easier for me to make sure the angle was right without having to worry about the camera moving or changing position.

However, I did feel like most of my shots were hand held which meant that the tripod wasn’t always needed and became a burden at various points. It was also fairly time consuming to set up which wasn’t ideal when I wanted to film at sunset.

iMac

I decided to use the iMac computers to edit my music video. It took me some time to get used this computer as I am used to using the general windows one.

Because I was not used to this software, it did slow down my progression at the beginning as I was trying practice a work out all of the keys. The mouse was also harder to use which again slowed me down at first. However, after a while, I began to prefer using the iMac in comparison to the windows computer.

FINAL CUT PRO

Final cut pro was the programme that I decided to use to edit my music video. I have had previous experience using this as I did my transition task with another group of people on this software. I found it very simple to use and managed to get the hang of t quickly as I was spending so much time using it.

The only downside to using this software was that the iMac’s were in high demand so it was often hard for me to find a time to edit which put me behind schedule on numerous occasions.

MEMORY CARD AND SD CARD

These were vital throughout the process of production as it was were I stored all of my work and footage. I had not real trouble when using this apart from when I used the SLR camera and my memory card wasn’t compatible with the camera.

PHOTOSHOP

I had to use Photoshop to produce my ancillary texts. I have used Photoshop frequently in the past to produce my AS coursework. This made the process of making my ancillary texts much more simple as I was used to the program. I was also able to edit my products whenever I had the chance because the Microsoft computers were always available and they all had the program installed. This made the process much more efficient.

BLOGGER

Blogger is the place that I post all of my media work. I allows me to keep all of my work in one place and helps me stay organised and I can order my work easily by changing the date. As I had to use it last year for my AS coursework, I had a lot of experience with it which made it easy to use.

However, it is sometimes hard to set thing out the way that I would like. The fonts sometimes don’t come up how you would want them to and the layout isn’t always the same as what it looks like while you are tying which can be frustrating and time consuming.

PREZI

Prezi has allowed me to present my work in more creative ways. It makes my blog look muh more visually dynamic and interesting which links with the course that I am doing. It has allowed me present my creative flair and also has made the process of creating my work more enjoyable.

The downside to this program however, is that it can be time consuming in some circumstances, especially when you want your work to be presented quickly.

SLIDESHARE

PowerPoints are one of my favourite ways to present my work as it is easy to make but can also look more interesting than writing an essay. Slideshare has allowed me to create my PowerPoint but put them together into an actual presentation and not just some JPEG’s. it makes my blog look much neater and more concise while still having all of the information.

STORYBOARD THAT

This programme allowed me to create an illustration of what I wanted my video to look like. It allowed me to get all of my ideas down on paper to see where there were any gaps and what I needed to change. I could also add the specific timings which made it much easier when it came to filming and editing my clips together.

However, there was a limit to the size of the storyboard which made it hard for me as my song was fairly long. It is also a very time consuming process which delayed my filming as I couldn’t film until I had finished it.

VENNGAGE

Venngage allowed me to present my audience feedback in an interesting way. It allowed me to present my findings in a visual way while also letting me add text so I could explain my process. The charts that I added were also slightly interactive which makes my blog more visually interesting.

A downside to this programme was that it was fairly time consuming to create the feedback sheets.

SPLICE

This is an app on my iPhone that I used in order to edit my audience research clips. It allowed me to cut the clips down easily and also allowed me to join some clips together. I could then save them and upload them to YouTube.

This saved me time as I didn't’t have to edit them on final cut pro. It also allowed me to use a new form of technology which developed my technological skills further.

QUICKTIME PLAYER

This piece of software allowed me to record my screen while I was creating my music video. I could then upload this footage to YouTube to represent the different stages of production. It was also very simple to use.

The only downside to this piece of software was that it took a long time to save because they were usually very long clips. This inevitably slowed down my process. However, the footage was very useful throughout my process of creating my music video.

YOUTUBE

I used YouTube consistently throughout my process. I could use it to find tutorials on how to use final cut pro. This is also where I uploaded all of my videos to which was beneficial as they were all in one place and easily accessible.

The only downside to this is that it could take a very long time to upload. This was frustrating as I often had a time limit on the iMac which restricted me. However, when I tried to upload it again, it would resume to where it had been left. This was beneficial as I wouldn’t have to upload it from the start again.

EMAZE

Emaze is a very easy piece of software to use in order to present your work in a more dynamic way. You can build a presentation from scratch or you can upload a powerpoint that you have already produced. This allows you to make the presentation more interesting. The software is really simple to use and I had no problems using it. This made the process more efficient and less time consuming.
