We are grateful to have been granted an interview with Mr. Antonio Greco, the President Director, about their business in the Brazilian market and their impressions and expectations of VORTEX.

Please tell us the latest situation of FIACAO ALPINA.
The solid investment in projects of high technology and
innovation with a focus on high productivity management, competitiveness, and reduction of costs is necessary and we are doing this. At the present moment, we are giving priority for VORTEX yarn, focusing on cost, competitiveness and differentiated yarns in order to satisfy customer's requests and demands.
What do you consider the market conditions in Brazil?
We feel Brazilian textile market has been at a disadvantage for
years due to exchange rate policies and an unfavorable macroeconomic scenario. Also, the high cost of electric power, outdated labor laws, tax burden and high interest harm the competitiveness of business.
Why does your company use our machinery?
The VORTEX spinning machine is a high productivity machine.
The VORTEX productivity allowed us to reduce cost and gain an advantage over our competitor. In addition to the productivity, the VORTEX may also allow us to reduce manpower. Also, good customer service is one of the reasons we continue to use Muratec machines.The communication with Muratec staff is very good. They are always available by cellular phone or by e-mail. Periodic customer service visits demonstrates Muratec's commitment to quality.
Another important point is the high level of Muratec's technical engineers. They are very proactive and productive.
What is your sales strategy for the VORTEX business and what is your sales point for VORTEX yarns?
Surely we will explore the VORTEX yarn's inherent
advantages, like resistance to pilling, less hairiness and moisture absorption. Those characteristics are very important in order to keep good appearance of fabrics.
What does the customer want Muratec to do?
We appreciate Muratec's after sales service, especially
machine upgrades. However we would like to ask you to anticipate improvements and failures in order to deliver machines in their best condition and avoid machine downtime and loss of production.Anyway, we expect Muratec to continue to be our good partner. We will continue to communicate well with Muratec in order to find the best solutions for our business and enhance our brand value.

In support of the development of yarn products–A technical seminar on VORTEX was held in Indonesia
Muratec held a technical seminar on VORTEX spinning machines at PT Primayudha Mandirijaya in Indonesia. Primayudha has produced mainly rayon and T/R yarns with conventional VORTEX spinning machines, and is now working on the development of polyester and T/C yarns. At this seminar, we presented on-the-job instruction to operators, maintenance engineers and management, with emphasis on a deeper understanding of spinning technology and maintenance of VORTEX machines. Muratec is committed to supporting yarn product development for customers of VORTEX spinning in the future.
How is your present business situation?Presently, the textile industry especially yarn spinning, is not doing well due to sluggish demand. However, Primayudha being a quality yarn manufacturer, is able to sustain the current situation with the support of its loyal customers.
What is your forecast for 2015 for the textile industry in Indonesia and worldwide?In 2015, the textile industry in Indonesia is in a difficult situation due to a steep increase in power costs, tarriffs, and wages. However, Indonesia being a reliable supplier of good quality textile products, the industry here will continue to consolidate and grow. Overall, 2015 will not be a very good year due to the slow recovery in European, American, Chinese and Japanese economies.
What benefits or advantages resulted from receiving this private seminar under this business situation?As such VORTEX spinning technology is new and not all technicians have good knowl-edge on this subject. The private seminar organized by Muratec helped our techni-cians to understand functioning of this machine more closely. Further, they got this opportunity to interact with the Muratec technical engineers to better understand the machine and its functions. It has increased their knowledge of VORTEX spinning and products made from those machines.
What is the main reason for your use Muratec machines?We aggressively promoted VORTEX
products in different markets. We wish to build on that and offer our customers the same quality products consistently. There-fore, we are using VORTEX spinning machines continuously.
How do you plan to grow your products?We are diversifying our product range and market for VORTEX yarns. Our focus will always be on quality manufacturing and to further grow this market.
What would your company like Muratec to do?Currently, VORTEX yarns have only a small market share. This is due to lack of aware-ness among the users and limitation of VORTEX yarns in some end uses. This requires more development and promotion from Muratec of different types of VORTEX yarns. It will help in better acceptability and increase the market share.
