Aftercare Extra-Curricular activities - Off to a great start!
Hopefully you’ve already heard the great news about Harmony receiving an additional DSS grant of
$18,360! This brings us one step closer to our goal of $150,000. There currently aren’t any additional
updates with the renovation project or sites to relocate the school. As soon as we know more, you’ll be
notified. Go to GoFundMe.com/harmonyflood to see how far we’ve come on our goal. This number does
not yet include Oyster Roast funds.
The Oyster Roast is starting to bring in Sponsorships and Silent Auction items! We are up to $3000 in
sponsorships and are excited to announce the Lizards Thicket will be setting up a tent to offer additional
food items for sale. They are donating all of their
food! Don’t forget to sell your tickets!

What are the objectives of the Stay Awake Class
at Harmony School ?
A typical day of Stay Awake-
First Children come into class and we have circle
time. During circle time we sing songs about our unit
study, and then directions are given to the students about each centers objectives. The children
rotate among 5 to 6 centers during Stay Awake. The centers consist of a Science, Language,
Math, Geography, Creative Play, and Art.
This month in Science during Stay Awake we will be learning about the bones in our body and
our organs in our body. In Geography we will be learning about North America. Our weekly
sounds will be A, C, H, and G for Language. In Math, continue working on shapes, numbers,
greater than and less than, and teen numbers. Creative Play and Art will vary from day to day.
Every Friday the children play outside and learn an outdoor game.
This month we will concentrate on Kick Ball.

Sesquicentennial State Park Field Trip
October’s field trip will take students on a
fun hiking experience through the state
park. Students will learn about the nature
around them and how it relates to their unit
of study about the environment.
The earth is our mother. We must take care of her. The earth is our mother. We must take care of her.

Learning about the environment...
Elementary stu-
dent, Macy,
brought her pet
rabbit to the Stay-
Awake group to
help students learn
about mammals.
Our study of the environment has
brought about discussions of what the
earth is made of, what it would be like
if there was no sound on the earth, no-
ticing what grows on the earth, what is
alive and not alive, and talking about
the many treasures on our earth
(beautiful flowers, trees, animals, rocks,
insects, etc.) The children have ex-
plored with miniature Earth bowls of
dirt, searched for a special rock to make
a pet rock, had fun pretending to be a
flower seed growing into beautiful
flowers, and made a pretend camera to
take photographs of the Earth.

Hobbies: Playing and designing
video games, recording on her You-
Tube channel, writing and drawing
Favorite part about working at Har-
mony: Lizzie loves working with the
kids. It gives her the chance to see a
child’s point of view again. They
make her happy!
Lizzie is available for babysitting
on weekends and during holiday
breaks!
Her phone # is 803-403-6491.
On October 31st students can wear
