Dodge Family Eye CareImagine a professional office that knows the names of other family members as well as that of the patient, an office that answers 80% of telephone calls by the third ring with a live person, that facilitates communication with patients by providing the doctor's personal email address and a staff email address to all our patients, an office that provides 24/7 emergency eye care coverage thereby eliminating in most cases costly and time consuming visits to emergency rooms.

Our patients tell us they value the extra time we spend with them to explain not only their eye findings, but also how systemic diseases can affect one's vision. For over 30 years we have included blood pressure measurement as part of our annual eye health examinations. More recently, we have discussed nutrition as a vital part of maintaining eye health and vision in life's later years. As a further commitment to our patients and our community, we participate in a national program and provide no charge infant exams up to the age of 2 years.

Our office philosophy is simple: Save lives, save vision, sell quality vision products- in that order.

Contact LensesSoft Contact Lenses:

Soft contact lenses are the most commonly prescribed due to the fact that they are extremely comfortable. Soft contacts are now available for patients with astigmatism and dry eyes and can now even change the color of your eyes. Soft contact lenses include:

Daily Wear: These can be worn up to 12 hours but must be removed and cleaned at night Extended Wear: These can be worn on a more flexible schedule than daily wear Disposable: These are meant to be worn for a short time and then discarded Color-Changing: These can change the color of your eyes even if vision correction is not needed

Hard Contact Lenses:

Also called rigid or gas-permeable lenses, hard contact lenses offer sharper vision and can correct nearsightedness or astigmatism. However, hard contact lenses take longer to adjust to than soft contact lenses.

At Dodge Family Eye Care, we offer all types and brands of contact lenses specifically fitted for each individual's needs. It is very important that your lenses are fitted correctly based on your prescription, eye shape and specific needs.

What Is Astigmatism?

Astigmatism is a common eye condition that's easily corrected by eyeglasses, contact lenses, or surgery.Astigmatism is characterized by an irregular curvature of the cornea. This is one type of refractive error. Astigmatism occurs in nearly everybody to some degree. For significant curvature, treatment is required.

A person's eye is naturally spherical in shape. Under normal circumstances, when light enters the eye, it refracts evenly, creating a clear view of the object. However, the eye of a person with astigmatism is shaped more like a football or the back of a spoon. For this person, when light enters the eye it is refracted more in one direction than the other, allowing only part of the object to be in focus at one time. Objects at any distance can appear blurry and wavy.

Nearsightedness

Nearsightedness (myopia) is a common vision condition in which you can see objects near to you clearly, but objects farther away are blurry.

Farsightedness

Farsightedness (hyperopia) is a common vision condition in which you can see distant objects clearly, but objects nearby may be blurry.

Infant Eye Exams

Our InfantSEE program provides a one-time, no cost eye and vision assessment for babies up to 12 months of age. An eye and vision assessment is an important step in making sure your baby is learning to see properly.
