Fire Department Halloween Surprise Your Cheviot Fire Department had a "special delivery" on Halloween 2014. Firefighter Dave Miller helped deliver twins Mason & Mackenzie Moore-Jackson in the backseat of a car just outside the fire station when the parents just couldn’t make it to the hospital in time. The happy parents, Charley Moore-Jackson and John Moore, are shown in the photo with the twins and Mr. Miller (far left) and Chief Bob Klein.

Cheviot Electric and Gas Aggregation Since Cheviot is part of a consortium with approximately 9 other cities, we are able to have cheaper electric and gas rates. Residents will have an electric charge of $0.0576 per kilowatt-hour that is locked in through May 2017. With regard to gas aggregation, we have a "flex down rate," which means a good rate is locked in when the winter months arrive. If the price goes down, our price does too. The good news is our price can’t go up. Cheviot Police Department Maintaining high standards for the training of our officers is crucial to maintaining the professional level of service our citizens have come to expect. To that end, the Dept. participated in an “Active Shooter” training session hosted by the Western Hamilton County Fire Chiefs Association. This training enables these officers to facilitate the inclusion of our Fire Department in our annual Active Shooter drill. Welcoming the “Fire-Side” into our preparation can speed up emergency medical response in the event of a tragedy. All officers are currently completing advanced training on response to Domestic Violence calls and recently completed training on dealing with individuals experiencing mental crises. Cheviot residents have always been a big help in providing crucial information that furthers our investigations. We greatly appreciate the calls and emails that alert us to problems of which we may not be aware. Persistent, minor annoyances can be reported at (661-2917). Anyone observing a crime-in-progress should call the Hamilton Co. Dispatcher at either 825-2280, or 911, and a Cheviot officer will respond. Our Crime Alert program continues to operate, notifying residents of criminal trends and occasional reminders in regards to awareness of potential threats. Email [email protected] to get on list. Cheviot Public Works The Public Works Department of Cheviot is working constantly to keep our City well maintained. The Department does concrete work, asphalt repairs, tar sealing, and general maintenance of our streets. Additionally, they keep both parks including the ball fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, and pool in excellent condition. Cheviot is second to none with our excellent response to snow removal! And as you know, the City does great trash pick-up. Cheviot Public School Kindergarten and Pre-K enrollment is happening now at Cheviot Public School. Take advantage of the free Rising Stars Program that will be offered this summer for 4 & 5 year olds entering kindergarten in the fall. Contact Mr. Onyango Collier at 363-1400 for more information. He is also your contact if you would like to be a volunteer tutor. First day of school is August 18. Lettuce Eat Well Farmers’ Market Check it out on Fridays 3 to 7 pm at Cheviot United Methodist Church. We Welcome Your Input! Cheviot City Council and the Administration welcome your comments and suggestions. Our phone number is 661-2700. Visit the website at www.cheviot.org and friend us at www.facebook.com/cityofcheviot.
