Forty years have passed since two tragic decisions, Roe vs. Wade and Doe vs. Bolton, by the U.S Supreme Court enshrined abortion as a “right”. These decisions have led to the
deaths of more than 56 million unborn children in the last 41 years. Our society will never know the enormous toll that this immense loss of life has taken on our nation. Today is a
time to celebrate the gift of life we have been given while mourning for those whose lives were snuffed out before birth.
Forty years of abortion on demand have allowed government and society to get away with not providing real choices to women in crisis. No woman wants to have an abortion, yet
every year more than a million women put themselves through this dangerous procedure. Abortion doesn’t solve problems, it only creates new ones. Abortion doesn’t help women, it
hurts them.
Roe vs. Wade and Doe vs. Bolton have led our society down the dangerous path of devaluing human life. Forty years of legal abortion is forty years too many. Our country needs to
get back to a place where we sincerely value human life because the life of every human being, including the unborn, should be treasured and protected by law. We will not cease
working on their behalf until their lives are, once again, valued by our laws and society.
