The itch of anticipation hits many firearm deer hunters today, butcousins Diana Gibson and Brad Greenfield get a different feeling eachNov. 15. The two were relatives of the late La Floy and Inder

Greenfield, who turned a 94-acre property south of Hastings into one ofMichigan’s tourist attractions, the Greenfield Deer Park. The Greenfields’interest in the grace and beauty of deer extended far beyond, to cougars,bears and monkeys, too. Their menagerie attracted not just tourists, but alsostatewide media which documented an enchanting story of a couple who res-cued, nurtured and returned wild animals to their native habitat. The story,like the land on which the park once stood, began to fade with the passageof nearly 50 years but Gibson, who enjoys pursuing writing and history, hasrenewed it with memories she shares, inside this issue.
