Hatchet• Genre: Realistic Fiction Wilderness Survival Story• In a survival story, a person a person or group must

overcome obstacles, after a disaster such as a boat sinking, being stranded and alone, one must overcome nature.

• In this story 13 year old Brian survives a plane crash in the Canadian Wilderness, the pilot was not so lucky. He is in the far north, he is alone in the deep woods, with only the wildlife animals, and a million mosquitoes.

Setting is North Canada Cold Climate, Deep ForestsThe setting is crucial to the plot of the story as Brian is forced to learn to adapt to his harsh environment where a boy is not always at the top of the food chain. He is alone with not many tools to survive with, but his resourcefulness and one hatchet.
