mailed between June 3 and June 5, 2014.
• If a mortgage company is responsible for paying your property taxes on your behalf, and you have
received a bill, please be advised that this is for “Your information only” and no payment is required.
We will advise your mortgage company of the amount owing.
• If a tax arrears notation appears on your tax bill, it means that at the time of printing the property
tax bills, there were outstanding taxes and/or penalty owing. Please contact the Finance office for the
current balance outstanding.
• If you signed up for the Pre-Authorized Payment Plan prior to May 15, 2014 and your tax bill does not
reflect this, please contact the Finance Department to confirm that you are enrolled in a PAP plan.
Final installments are due on June 26 and September 25, 2014.
Penalties/interest will commence on the first day of each month for any late payments.
Penalty/Interest rates are at the rate of 1.25% per month. Please be advised that all payments
received are applied first to all penalties owing, then the remainder is applied to the taxes owing.
Failure to receive a tax bill does not excuse the property owner from the responsibility for payment,

• Due Date Plan – installment amount taken on the due date (interest free)

June 30Canada Day Drop-In Crafts
Downtown and Painswick, Children’s Area During Library HoursHooray for red and white and maple leaves!
Kick-off the summer with crafts to celebrate
Canada Day! Drop-in fun for children of all ages at
both of your library locations.
Did you know that celebrating Canada Day across the country is a fairly recent tradition? The holiday began in 1879 as Dominion Day,
a day to mark the union of four British North American colonies (Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick) into one single
Canada. But yearly celebrations did not begin until the late 1950’s and were limited to the Ottawa region. It wasn’t until 1980 that other
Canadian communities joined the party and Canada Day became the official name.
Canada has since grown to 10 provinces and three territories wide and Canada Day’s purpose has shifted from recalling the Constitution
Act of 1867 to celebrating a beautiful land and a culture that thrives on excellence, opportunities, human rights, multiculturalism, and
so much more.
This year, Canada Day takes place on Tuesday July 1st, at the tail-end of the annual Promenade Days. Festivities last all day long, celebrating
our nation’s 147th anniversary. If you haven’t made plans yet, don’t worry; Barrie has lots in store for you throughout the downtown and
at Memorial Square. Here are 7 activities to help you celebrate:
