InnovationOver the years innovations have been

incorporated into the design of many of

these mowers making them safer, stronger

and able to cope with the demands of your

garden. For instance, the Hayter friction

disc fitted to the cutterblade helps limit

impact damage to the crankshaft should

you accidentally hit a solid object.

This friction disc is unique to Hayter and

in order to show our confidence in this

innovation we offer a lifetime guarantee

against engine crankshaft bending on each

machine fitted with one (check specification

sheet for details). An additional feature on

many of our machines is the front fins in

the deck. These fins improve the cutting

and collection ability by up to 30%.

SafetyDue to safety legislation all machines are

fitted with an OPC (Operator Presence

Control). This control, when released, stops

the engine and blade completely making

the machine totally safe. Hayter looked

at this requirement very carefully and

examined various ways to incorporate this

feature. Our machines are fitted with a

hand-held control lever which has been

designed to fit snugly into the handlebar for

comfort. Alternatively, a Blade Brake Clutch

mechanism is an option on selected models.

This clutch stops the cutting blade but

enables the engine to keep running.

Hayter recognises its responsibilities in protecting theenvironment and the need to act for the future well-being ofthe planet. The environment matters to all of us and measuresto reduce waste make good business sense. We are committedto minimising any adverse environmental impact by means ofa continual improvement process.

Hayter shall include environmental considerations in its decisionmaking and/or processes and specifically it will:-

Hayter Limited acquired the assets ofthe Allen hover mower business inearly 2007. Allen products have a long-standing reputation for superior product quality and superb mowingperformance with both professionalusers and homeowners around theworld.

Allen hover mowers are suitable for a variety

of grass-cutting applications, including lawns

and rough grassed areas, and are ideal for

mowing slopes and banks.

These mowers glide effortlessly on a cushion

of air, allowing movement in any direction.

The engine is connected to an impeller that

draws in air through the top of the mower

and forces it along the underside surface of

the deck. This allows the machine to hover

just above the ground and draw the grass

into an upright position to ensure a clean and

even cut. In addition the circulating air

stream re-cuts the clippings many times

before pushing them back

into the grass.

Since the acquisition, Allen manufacturing

has been relocated to the Hayter factory in

Hertfordshire. 2008 saw the launch of the

revolutionary XR44 Hovertrim that has

been designed and engineered to provide

our customers with the best performing,

lightest petrol hover mower in its class.

Hayter chooses Briggs & Stratton, the largest producer in the world ofengines for outdoor equipment, toprovide power to its premium mowers.The engines are designed specificallyfor lawnmowers and have high powerat low speed, essential for heavy dutymowing and quiet operation.

Briggs & Stratton has earned an unrivalled

pioneered the development of low-emission

engines for a better environment, with

engines today averaging 70% less exhaust

Engines are specified to provide the

optimum power and torque requirements

for each Hayter lawnmower. Three models

in the Spirit range of mowers are powered

by series 400 engines, engineered for

reliability and easy operation.

For the Harrier 41 and 48, the more

powerful Series 650 is specified. This

engine is designed to power premium

lawnmowers and its style, performance

and durability closely match those of the

Harrier range.

The top of the line Harrier 56, and Harrier

48 Pro, are powered by the Series 825.

This overhead valve (OHV) engine is full

of commercial quality features which give

it long-life, fuel efficiency, low noise and

the ability to perform in the toughest con-

ditions.

Lawn care tips

If weather is mild, occasionallycut the grass, maintainingabout 25mm of growth. Keepoff the grass if frozen orwaterlogged.

Keep your lawn in tip top shape by following this monthly year planner.

January/February

Rake the grass thoroughly.Spike the lawn all over andapply lawn sand if necessary.Keep mower blades high andjust ‘top’ the grass.

March

Re-seed bare patches, apply fertilisers andmosskiller towards the end of the month. Mowregularly, lowering theblades gradually.

April

Treat with selectiveweedkillers or combinedweed/feed preparationsif you haven’t fed thelawn in April.

May

Mow lawns twice a weekif possible working to adefinite pattern. Watergrass if necessary,remembering to soakthoroughly.

June

Treat grass with secondapplication of fertiliser.Water in as necessary. Don’t cut the grass tooclosely.

July

Keep on mowing regularlyand watering as necessary.Fill in any cracks caused bydrought with a mixture ofsharp sand and soil.

Raise mower blades to allowthe grass to thicken andprotect roots from winterfrost and snow. Applyautumn-winter fertiliser,weedkiller and mosskiller.

InnovationOver the years innovations have been

incorporated into the design of many of

these mowers making them safer, stronger

garden. For instance, the Hayter friction

disc fitted to the cutterblade helps limit

impact damage to the crankshaft should

you accidentally hit a solid object.

This friction disc is unique to Hayter and

in order to show our confidence in this

innovation we offer a lifetime guarantee

against engine crankshaft bending on each

machine fitted with one (check specification

sheet for details). An additional feature on

many of our machines is the front fins in

the deck. These fins improve the cutting

and collection ability by up to 30%.

SafetyDue to safety legislation all machines are

fitted with an OPC (Operator Presence

Control). This control, when released, stops

the engine and blade completely making

the machine totally safe. Hayter looked

at this requirement very carefully and

examined various ways to incorporate this

feature. Our machines are fitted with a

hand-held control lever which has been

designed to fit snugly into the handlebar for

comfort. Alternatively, a Blade Brake Clutch

mechanism is an option on selected models.

This clutch stops the cutting blade but

enables the engine to keep running.
