picked, in the next few

slides I will explain to

you why some elements

of each of the adverts

might influence how I

would design my logo.

The colours of the cube adverts vary a lot. There are some which are black, orange, purple, etc, however I think that in almost every one of the adverts, there is always a rubik’s cube, so at least 3 colours of the rubik’s cube would be shown. The background colour is usually black or white, this contrasts with the colours of the rubik’s cube, making the cube stand out. For example, on the advert with all the colours of the cubes spreading out, the background colour is black, making the glow more eye-catching

Text

In general, the text on each of the poster fill a very small area of the page. Even though the fonts are quite different in each of the adverts, I think that the fonts match the style of the purpose which is quite playful and colourful (colours of the rubik’s cube). In the advert on the top right corner, there are more words because it is promoting an event. There is an information box at the bottom with bubbles of catch phrases on the side. I wouldn’t use this format for my logo but I am designing a logo and not an advert. However, I think I should make the text quite bold as the one in the toys are us advert.

All of the adverts contain at least one cube. Some adverts have people solving the cubes but I don’t think it is a good idea because I am making a logo so I would not have too much going on in my logo. Sometimes, there are different images on the sides of the rubik’s cubes, I might consider that idea but I would change it to using words, for example The Cube Hut on different sides instead of using images.

I think most of the adverts had the cube in the middle to draw the attention of the audience and it makes it clear that it has a purpose of promoting cubes. The cube also takes up a lot of space in the advert, so it is the first thing the audience would see when they look at the website. Overall, I think one big cube is more effective.

I quite like the typography idea of the “dayan cube” where words were formed by putting cubes together. I think I would improve that idea by using different colours as well, perhaps the Rubik’s cubes colours. 

I loved the idea of having images on different sides of the cubes so I would put on text on different sides as I am making a logo. 

For the image, I prefer a close up shot of a cube because I think this would make the cube the central theme of the logo.
