The HBCU - China Scholarship Network is a consortium of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) formed in 2014 to facilitate the implementation of 1,000 scholarships awarded to HBCUs as announced by Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong in November 2013. “The classes were really nice, very nice professors, who went out of their way to make sure we understood the language and who provided us with survival Chinese for when we went out on our own...Tours were incredible! We had the opportunity to visit some of the best-known monuments, places of interest and temples...Beijing is a huge city with about 21 million people, multicultural and very welcoming. “The Full-Scholarship China Study Abroad to Heilongjiang University in Harbin, China, as provided by Bowie State University, has been THE most magnificent, adventurous and wonderfully esoteric journey of my entire life. In 4 months, I have become an International Rap Star, traveled through the deserts of Inner Mongolia, healed immensely from trauma and baggage in my past life, became a TEDx Speaker for the 2nd time in my life, and have achieved historic academic marks in the program as an international student. I can only pray that more Bulldogs and HBCU students get to experience the wonders and adventures of this great country where they too can grow beyond Imagination.”

\In my mind, I felt like our group was filled with ambassadors for not only the different Historically Black Colleges and Universities
but for our community, our people. We were able to dispel a lot of stereotypes that they thought were common for African Americans based off T.V. and social media. Not only were our questions answered but also we were able to answer theirs. Overall, I feel this trip was amazing and will be cherished for a lifetime. The most important thing I learned is that even though we all may come from different backgrounds and beliefs we are all one and the same trying to strive for a better life!”

“My time in China was an unforgettable experience, studied Chinese for two weeks, and I was motivated by the content and the opportunity to practice my Chinese language skills with local residents. I gained insightful information about Chinese culture through visits to cultural sights and various companies. While in Beijing, I climbed the Great Wall of China, visited the Temple of Heaven, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium. Every day was a new adventure. I made life-long friends and lasting memories.”

"The China HBCU Scholarship and Sponsorship Programs have created scores of opportunities for students across higher education institutions in the U.S. to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Chinese history and culture. Since 2014, several Chinese universities have hosted students from HBCUs, providing those students with transformational study abroad experiences. Students were greeting warmly, and their own history and culture were embraced at Chongqing University, Fudan University, and other universities throughout China.
We are thankful to the China-United States Exchange Foundation and its partners, as well as to the Chinese Ministry of Education for creating opportunities for HBCU students to increase their knowledge of the heritage, art, music and language of China.” Dr. David Wilson

RE: 2019 HBCU President’s Delegation to China: December 14-21, 2019
Dear Dr. French,
It is my great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 2019 HBCU Presidential Delegation to China from December 14-21,2019, hosted by the China - United States Exchange Foundation. This year’s delegation will be exclusive and intimate to enable more productive and interactive discussions with our counterparts in China. Our goal is to meet with the Ministry of Education, the U.S. Embassy in Beijing and some current and potential Chinese partner universities to deepen and strengthen our positive relationships.
The delegation will be comprised of 4 - 6 HBCU Network members, and will depart the U.S. on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019 (arriving on Sunday, Dec. 15), and return to the U.S. on Saturday, December21,2019 (arriving same day). Due to the importance of this HBCU presidential delegation, and my role as chairman of the HBCU Network, I will serve as the delegation leader.
As a participant in the HBCU Network - China Scholarship Program since 2014, your participation in this year’s visit will ensure that your institution continues to benefit from increased opportunities for exchange with China. During the visit, the group also will have opportunities to visit historical sites in China, and engage in cultural activities similar to what our students experience when they travel there.
As with previous delegations, you will be required to cover your roundtrip international airfare, Chinese visa fee and travel insurance for the trip. Upon arrival in China, quality lodging, food, ground transportation, in-country ground and air transportation, and tour entrance fees, will be covered by our China hosts.
To confirm your participation, please respond to Wilson Global Communications no later than Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at [email protected] and [email protected] so that you will be included in the logistical planning and important advance briefings for the visit. Upon confirmation, you may also suggest activities for the itinerary, including any Chinese universities you may want to visit. Please feel free to also follow-up with Julia Wilson at Wilson Global with any additional questions or concerns at 202.461.2215.
I look forward to your positive and favorable response, and to another successful HBCU Network presidential delegation visit to the Peoples Republic of China.

RE: 2019 HBCU President’s Delegation to China: December 14-21, 2019
Dear Dr. Campbell,
It is my great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 2019 HBCU Presidential Delegation to China from December 14-21,2019, hosted by the China - United States Exchange Foundation.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. David WilsonPresident, Morgan State University
