This meeting is being held in conformity to the Open Public Meetings Act N.J.S.A. 10:4-6 et. seq. Proper public notice of the meeting was published in the local papers on DATE and DATE. If any Board member or member of the public in attendance believes that the meeting is inviolation of the Open Public Meetings Act, the Hoboken Board of Education requests that theymake a statement at this time.
The Board wishes to make those in attendance aware that this meeting is being recorded on videoand will be broadcast by the Board at a later date on CATV Channel 77 and Fios Channel 46. The Hoboken Board of Education is committed to preserving the decorum of the public processand is mindful that we live in the electronic age of computers, cell phones and other electroniccommunications devices. The Athletic Trainer will workfrom August 1, 2014 through June 1, 2015. As a certified staff member the Athletic Trainer is entitled to representation by theAssociation and has been placed on the appropriate step of the salary guide set forth in the Agreement. He must work a minimumof 1,248.75 hours during the time period. If the Athletic Trainer exceeds 1,248.75 hours, he shall be entitled to compensation atthe rate of $34.00 per hour pending HEA negotiations.

Subject 10.14 Resolution on School Funding in the FY15 NJ State Budget

Recommended Action WHEREAS, the New Jersey School Funding Reform Act of 2008 (SFRA), the State’s school aid formula, ensures adequate andequitable school funding for each child on the basis of individual need, regardless of where that child lives;
WHEREAS, 2014-15 will mark the fifth year of underfunding of the SFRA, resulting in 80% of New Jersey school districts receivingstate aid at levels below those of 2009-10;
WHEREAS, continued underfunding of the SFRA has resulted in cuts to vital educational programs and services in schoolsthroughout the state; and
WHEREAS, state aid for New Jersey schools in the proposed FY15 State Budget was not calculated in accordance with the SFRA,and the trivial increase in per pupil aid in 2014-15 will be allocated through new, off-formula aid categories;
WHEREAS, the Hoboken Board of Education supports the SFRA and a clearly designated pathway to full funding of the law in orderto provide New Jersey schoolchildren with the resources they need to ensure a successful future and to which they are entitled bylaw;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Hoboken Board of Education urges the New Jersey State Legislature to increase stateaid to school districts in FY15 by at least 5%, or approximately $370 million, in order to lessen the impact of SFRA underfundingresulting in harmful cuts to programs, staff and services;
RESOLVED, THAT the Hoboken Board of Education urges the New Jersey State Legislature to increase preschool education aid by atleast 5%, or $30 million, in order to begin to implement the preschool expansion program set forth in the SFRA to at-risk studentsacross the state of New Jersey.
