Programme

Spectacular location in a dynamic city: MacaoSince the opening of its gambling monopoly to foreign competitors, Macao is well on the way to becoming Asia’s entertainment capital and has already surpassed Las Vegas in gross gaming revenues. The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel is the largest resort venue in Asia, with a spectacular combination of facilities, attractions and amenities, including a replica of the famous canals of Venice. The Venetian is opening to visitors this autumn, and the HBSAHK China Business Strategy Seminar will be one of the first events to gain access to the property. For seminar participants who wish to stay for the whole weekend in Macao, HBSAHK is planning a variety of cultural and leisure activities, including a potential behind-the-scenes visit to the operations of a major casino (not available to members of the public), a Macao real estate tour, lunch at the famous Robuchon restaurant, golf etc. We will also be inviting guest speakers from the political and business elite in Macao to join participants at some of these events.

Dick Vietor is the Senator John Heinz Professor of Environmental Management and Senior Associate Dean at HBS, where he teaches courses on business regulation and the international political economy. He also oversees the HBS Asia Pacific Research Centre and serves on the editorial board of the Business History Review, the advisory board of IPADE in Mexico and the Infrastructure Committee of the Competitiveness Policy Council.

Professor Vietor’s research on business and government policy has been widely published in books and journals, as well more than three dozen case studies.
