Examples of Complicated Accruals and Exceptions
• Employees Grandfathered on older obsolete accruals
• Exceptions due to negotiated perks when recruiting executives
• Unique Timing, such as Quarterly Accruals
• Special Limits to include Time Entry and creating negative accruals if over the Max
• Probationary periods
• Multiple Unions with numerous minor variations
• Employees not eligible for an accrual due to non-productive time in the previous month
• Reduced benefits for 75% FTE employees – working 30 hours/week
• Rehires with a break in service years
Technical Considerations
• Custom vs. Mod
– Impact of modifying standard JDE objects• Harder to take ESUs and stay code-current
• Harder to upgrade
• Harder to debug
• Harder to work with Oracle support
• Non-Invasive
– Systems 55-59 reserved for custom development
– Preserved / less likely to be impacted by upgrades and ESUs
– Custom development is accommodated
• Performance
Avoid if possible!
Standard/Classic Configuration – simple accrual
Must be mutually exclusive.Cannot be a Many-to-Many relationship.
Exception for a few employees
Calc Table Overrides
• DBA Instructions
(P050181)
• Group Plan DBA Setup
(P059101)
Group Plan DBA Setup
Can use the Override Flag to prevent the DBA from calculating for employees in certain jobs
Menu Travel: HRM Setup → Pay/Deductions/Benefits Setup
Cloning Table Methods
P059027
Pre-Payroll DBA Calculation Control (P07901)
Table Method → Calc Code
Tweaking P07901 DBA Calculation Control
Can copy to a new Table Method (Calc Code)and change the date field that is used
Quarterly Accrual
Calculate each quarter in the pay period that contains the 1st day of the quarter
New hires need to receive a pro-rated accrual when they are hired, depending on whether they are hired in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, month of the quarter
But in January, calculate on the 1st January check date regardless of the pay period dates
If the New hire misses the accrual in their first pay period (due to delayed timecards) automatically trigger the timecard on the second pay period.
If the New hire is hired at the end of the quarter, they may need their pro-rated accrual combined with the next quarterly accrual that is falling in the same pay period.
24 Hour Quarterly Accrual
For New Hires:
24 – 1st month of quarter
16 – 2nd month of quarter
8 – 3rd month of quarter
32 – End of quarter combo
