In our world today, people must often first see the transforming power of Jesus’ lordship, and

then they will learn the way of faith…

Minor Detour…

Samson - Judges 13-16

“The Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him…”

Hair gone…commitment gone...Spirit gone = WEAK!

Judges 16:22 – “However, the hair of his head began to grow again after it had been shaved.”

HDJDI: The Mysterious… 21When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened 22and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” (Luke 3:21-22)

1Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry. 14Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. (Luke 4:1-2, 14)

Everything Jesus did, He did through the power of the Holy Spirit.

“I only do what I hear from the Father”

5but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ 6Rather, you

are filled with grief because I have said these things. 7But very truly I tell you, it is for your

good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will

send him to you. (John 16:5-7)

12“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will

guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”

(John 16:12-15)

Romans 8 – “Life Through the Spirit” 28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. 29For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many

brothers and sisters. (Romans 8:28-29)

10But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. 11And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of

his Spirit who lives in you. (Romans 8:10-11)
