1080i25 versus 720p50 :

quality comparison : with new displays with full HD capability 1080x1920 no more discussion 1080i is better than 720p

range of equipments : 1080i25 complete chain equipment production is

available720p50 very few of equipments in 50 Hz

TPS has announced the launch of an HD offer on 2005 : TPS star (movie & sport premium channel) , TF1, M6, and others thematic channels

ADSL

TPS is working with France Telecom to migrate to ADSL 2+ : HD TPS L offer on ADSL as soon as possible

TPS has announced the launch of an HD offer on 2005 : TPS star (movie & sport premium channel) , TF1, M6, and others thematic channels

ADSL

TPS is working with France Telecom to migrate to ADSL 2+ : HD TPS L offer on ADSL as soon as possible

Digital Terrestrial Television

French government has chosen MPEG2 for free TV and MPEG4 for PayTV to favour HDTV and TV on mobile introduction.

TPS will start on DTT on May 2005 with MPEG4-SD and move to HD as soon as possible in 2005 (needing encoders/decoders and authorisation process)

TPS is working to design its “multi-standard Set-top-box”

MPEG2 and MPEG-4 H264 codec , 1080i25 and 720p50 down conversion HD to SD Audio Mpeg1-layer 2 and Dolby Digitalaudio Dolby Digital down-mixing to analog stereo DVB common scrambling algorithmDVB-S and DVB-S2

HD video output : YPrPb and HDMI with HDCP content protectionSD video output : Peritel connectoraudio digital output : SPDIF ; audio analog output : RCA
