Opening Thoughts By Rev. Steve A. Patterson, Jr.

Our Strategic Planning Group has begun their work. They have met twice and are prayerfully and thoughtfully discerning future direction for our church. Their job is to study the church and present a proposal to the Church Council regarding how we should position ourselves for growth, taking into account current and future needs. They are also remembering and honoring our collective past, because that is part of who we are, too.

In order to get input from as many church members and visitors as possible, the group is providing opportunities for you to share your dreams and vision for LSUMC. Watch for surveys, visit Sunday morning interview stations, participate in Sunday school class visit discussions, or answer their questions when they make direct contact…just make sure you get the chance to share. They will receive information for a few months and then use what they have gathered to shape a plan for future development. Here are the members of the group: Rebecca Edens, Diane Fulcher, Jeffrey Graham, Bobby Inabinet, Frank Laney, Mark Mohr, Lucy Rabb, Charlotte Rankin, Paul Sullivan, Donnie Wilson. Thank you for praying for them. May God grant us — as a united congregation — the insight, courage, commitment, and resources necessary to claim and become all that God wants us to be.
