EDFL v WGFNCINTERLEAGUE ROUND
18 MAY 2019 • THE FOLLOWER – INTERLEAGUE 1
EDFL President’s Message
The Parklea EDFL is again pleased to participate in the Worksafe AFL Victoria Community Championships.
Well done to all footballers and netballers in both leagues who have been selected to play.
To clash with the West Gippsland Football Netball Competition and a neighbouring league and one that now has five former EDFL clubs makes today all the more special for clubs, officials, players and fans, many who will be familiar with each other both on and off field.
Irrespective of who wins today - the overall championship experience including the training build up is invaluable for all players both under age and senior. To get the chance to represent your league is both an honour and also tremendous for a players development. Over many years now our league have noticed the improvement in players when they return to their club which is not only beneficial to the individual but their club and the league.
I’d like to thank our new U18 coach Mort Diston and Senior coach Daniel Fry
for their time, efforts and organisation and this extends to our support staff along with assistant coaches, trainers, runner’s and team managers. Thank you for volunteering your time over recent weeks and it would be remiss of me to not recognise the role the parents and guardians play supporting the juniors and all supporters who attend at Yarragon today. Also thanks to the Yarragon FNC – and a first year team in the EDFL – for your co-operation in hosting today’s game.
And also the EDFL would like to acknowledge all our sponsors in particular league naming right sponsor Parklea and another major sponsor in Viatek whose logo’s are present on this years jumpers.
Last but not least thank you to the umpires from the V-Line Academy who will officiate today.
Truly hope for an exciting day with all games played in good spirit and may the best sides win.
Roger Gwynne EDFL President

WGFNC President’s Message
Welcome to Yarragon for the 2019
AFL Victoria Worksafe Community
Championships. Today we take on
neighbours Ellinbank and District in
the Senior and Under 18 football
divisions and Open and 17 & Under
netball divisions.
The Alex Scott & Staff West Gippsland
Football Netball Competition is in
its third year of participation at the
community championships as a newly
formed competition and we are proud
to continue representing all those who
make up the WGFNC. We would not
be able to be here today if it wasn’t
for the support of our major sponsor
Alex Scott & Staff, Physioworks, the
WGFNC Advisory Committee and
all of our wonderful volunteers that
make this event happen. We also
welcome the selected umpires from
across AFL Victoria Country as part
of their Umpiring Academy program,
congratulations on your selection
and good luck today. Thank you to
all 12 WGFNC clubs that nominated
players for today’s matches and for
supporting our representative program.
Congratulations to all selected players
in football and netball – good luck and
enjoy the experience. Thank you to Ken
Moore, Angela Banbury and the entire
EDFL/EDNA for their support with the
organisation of the 2019 Community
Championships. Finally, thank you to
everyone in attendance today, it’s great
to see the support that both leagues
have received and we hope you enjoy
watching the best that West Gippsland
and Ellinbank have to offer.
Stuart Goddard, AFL Gippsland
Operations Coordinator WGFNC
