Conversely, people inrichercountrieshavebetteraccessto healthcare and vaccines, andthings like cleandrinkingwater,due towhich they remain saferfromsuchinfectiousdiseases.But that, paradoxically, also

    means their immunesystemre-mainsunexposedtosuchdangers.Thishypothesis is also some-

    timesused toexplain thepreva-lenceofauto-immunediseases,inwhichtheimmunesystemsome-times 'overreacts' andstarts atta-ckingthebody'sowncells,leadingtodisorders like type-1diabetesmellitusormultiplesclerosis.Among countries with the

    highestratesofdeathpermillionof population are Belgium, ItalyandSpain,wheremorethan1,200deathshavediedpermillionhavebeen recorded till now. TheUSandtheUKhavemorethan1,000deathspermillionofpopulation.Incontrast,Indiahasseenjust
