It is a essence of enormous satisfaction for us to carry out our Seventh Annual

Report. (SSMC) has emerged as fast - growing micro finance organization in Jaunpur,

Uttar Pradesh. This Seventh Annual Report, not just swathe the performance so as

to we have prepared in a modest duration of instance, but it also provides

information about our setting and work. This year organization has also intervened

in livelihood promotion activities and community intervention activities for underprivileged clients.

This year SSMC has all ears on designing new innovative products and providing Income generating loan

so that a noteworthy impact can be seen in the life of poor clients and there will be sustainable

development in their livelihood standard. Among the rural population microfinance loan provided to

women members for dairy, buffalo, cow, goat rearing and for the members residing in the rural and

semi urban area organization has provided loan for income generating activities i.e. General Stores,

Street Dhaba, Bidi making, jari work etc. . Besides, organization has also provided support services along

with loan to enhance their livelihood opportunities. SSMC has organized financial literacy and trainings

programs of borrowers as SSMC believes through building capacity to utilize the borrowed amount for

income generation that will benefit them in long run and this will help poverty alleviation. This year

organization has been able to attract the investors through its responsive lending with transparency.

SSMC will efficiently get better and strengthen its governing structure to attain best outcome and

sustaining the institution.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and Shareholders, I want to make formal statement to grateful and

esteem to board of directors, administration team and every single one staffs who had tried to follow

and attain goal map carefully including strong dealing and know-how management to help Sai Samarpan

Micro Credit to be flourishing and as well a influential allocation for Indian economic toward its

BACKGROUND OF SSMC

Sai Samarpan Micro Credit (“SSMC”) is a micro-finance company registered & licensed as

Non Profit Making Company (Non Deposit taking) under section 25 of the Companies Act,

1956 and exempt from the provisions of Chapter III B of the RBI Act, 1934. It got registered

in the year 2011. Organizations provides financial services to poor rural/semi urban

families in the Jaunpur and surrounding Districts in Central & Eastern Uttar Pradesh, India

to enable them to invest in income-generating activities. It also provides insurance

products by collaborating Insurance Companies to assist in asset development, as well as a

complementary loan product for special emergencies.

As an organization dedicated to the socio-economic development of rural/semi urban

communities, SSMC is also looking to facilitate additional services to its clients through

alliances with other organizations in the area of economic development and empowerment.

Main focus of the organization is to enhance the income of households and improve the

status of women in the society.

The organization has experienced staff and advisory committee who are committed to the

organization.

Vijay Kumar (Promoter & Director):

Managing Director of the company, he has professional degree in

education, He belonging from Jaunpur. He has more than 6 years of

experience in Infrastructure and land development activities; he has

expertise in team leading and motivation. He also worked in Mumbai

in Real State sector, After seeing that it’s very difficult to uplift

livelihood of a nos. of women, through these type of works and by that

sectors, so he decided to work in microfinance sector, he decided to

start micro finance company, so he start microfinance company

through incorporate section-25 company named Sai Samaparan Micro Credit (SSMC) in

April, 2011.

He invested his own money time to time as capital in the company to established and grow

up it and work smoothly.

Now he is overseeing in SSMC, day to day working of operations and finance, and overall

activities of the company as Managing Director. All senior staff directly report to him.

Suneeta Devi (Promoter & Director):

She is the Director of the company hails from Jaunpur, in the company,

she has completed her graduation from Jaunpur University. She has

pivotal role in making policies of the company. He is overseeing day to

day work of HR-Admin in the company. Her guidance and support is

very fruitful to its employee and organization. She also active in this

company as promoter and director.

She is working in SSMC as Promoter and Director, and GM HR-Admin.

Mr. Rajesh J. Singh:

Mr. Vivek Kumar Jaiswal

Mr. Vivek has completed his graduation and joined PBA (I) Ltd. Mumbai as Technical

Manager and as Supervisro, after 7 years experience in Civil & Constructions Sector, he

has joined SSMC as Additional Director and involved in day to day operational

activities and overseeing Audit Department. He has also shareholder of the SSMC.

Mr. Avneesh Kumar Jaiswal-

Avneesh has completed his graduation and joined Saket Infra Project,

RMC Plant, Mumbai as Plant Manager, after 5 years experience in

Infrastructure Development Sector, he joined SSMC as Additional

Director and involved in day to day operational activities. He has also

taken shares of the SSMC.

Mr. Muniraj Sharma, (Executive Director)

He has vast experience in Internal Audit & control, Accounts & finance

and operations of various microfinance companies i.e. Capital Trust,

CASHPOR Micro Credit, Moral Group of companies and Bhartiya Micro

Credit, currently he is working in CASHPOR Micro Credit as GM-Audit.

He has great expertise in Internal Audit and Control of about 8 years,

he worked with some great Chattered Accountant, and had work in

various field of microfinance sectors.

He is an independent director in SSMC and SSMC utilized him in his day to day working of

Internal Audit & Control system, and also day to day work of Finance and Accounts

department, his guidance and support is very fruitful for SSMC.

ADVISORY BOARD :

Mr. Anupam Tiwari-He is 44 years old and belongs to Mirzapur

District of UP. Mr. Anupam Tiwari holds a Masters degree in Business

Administration. He has more than 15 years of experience in MFI Sector. He

has also part of CMC team member that built CASHPOR Micro Credit

(CMC) from scratch to one of the largest MFIs in North India.

He joined CFTS in July 1998 as Branch Manager (11 years). Due to his excellence

performance he continued to be promoted with the company. His First Promotion as a

Manager Insurance in April 2001 & Second promotion as Manager Training in April 2003.

In the last assignment Anupam was holding the position of Project Manager Livelihood

generation programmed of American India Foundation (AIF-Rickshaw Sangh) on Oct 2009

to Dec 2010.

His vast experience is time to time very important for SSMC, day to day working.

Radheyshyam Mishra : having M.Sc. Agriculture-Economics from BHU,

belongs from Shivpur, Varanasi, U.P. born on 1944 have a vast

experience in Finance and banking sector, he worked as Finance

Manager, chief Internal Auditor and Chief Manager-Credit in Central

Bank of India in various places. He also work in Agriculture finance

and Department of Garden and open space at Maharastra State Govt. He is as Advisory

Board Member in SSMC.

Mr. Virender Kumar Kashyap : Virender Kumar Kashyap s/o Late Sh.

Hukam Chand Kashyap was born on 19th of December, 1946. After

completing his studies, he joined Oriental Bank of Commerce, a leading

public sector Bank in 1972 and worked in different positions in the

same bank from time to time for 35 years. During his working in this institution he gained

vast banking experience and learning gained by him in various fields of operation as well as

administrative work could be very helpful in future assignments. He has a high level of

commitment which can be aligned to the attainment of set organizational goals as well as

smooth working of the institution to further deliver excellent desired results.

As Mr. Kashyap had a great interest in the Micro Finance, he joined Cashpor Micro Credit, a

section 25 Company under Companies Act, 1956 immediately after his retirement as CFO

and was looking after the Departments of Accounts, Claims and Loans/finance from 1st

Feb,07 to Aug,2009.

After resigning from CASHPOR in the month of Aug, 2007, he joined Mainstream Solutions

and Education a Section 25 Company as Promoter Director and CEO in Sept, 2009.

During this period Mr. Kashyap was also designated as COO of the GEOSANSAR (Gaia

Advisors) a London based Company of the same group which is working for the financial

inclusion in India.

LEADING EXECUTIVE GROUP: Mr.Girish Kumar Pathak (Chief Functionary Officer)

Girish has more than 8 years of experience in Microfinance development sector in various

positions. The development sector consisted of areas like Hardware, Software, Planning,

Monitoring, Supervision & Report generation. He worked Cashpor Micro Credit as an Asst.

ICT Officer on the activities of MIS implementation & process automation. After Cashpor,

Girish became one of the lead team members of first microfinance organization in

Uttarakhand named MIMO Finance (MIMOZA Enterprises) as a MIS Manager .after MIMO

Girish Joined Moral Gramin Micro Credit as a MIS & Planning Manager. After Moral Girish

joined Bhartiya Micro Credit as a Sr. Branch Manager (AIF Riksha Project). After Then

Girish joined SKS Micro Finance looking after the process compliance in the area of IT. In

the last assignment Girish was holding the position of MIS Head in Surya Jyoti leasing &

finance Limited in Varanasi. He is well versed with the IT & Operation tools. He has

contributed well in the development of MIS system in different organizations with which he

was associated. On the front of education, He is B.Sc. & B.ed from Veer Bahadur Purvanchal

Mr. Bragesh Bahadur having nine years of professional experience in Finance and

Mr. Sanjay Yadav:-

Sanjay has graduate from Veer Bahadur Singh Purvachal University Jaunpur. He is

contributing in with micro finance sector from more than 5 years and has been Branch

Manager and Area Manager, in Sonata, and Satin Credit Care. He is looking after day-to-day

operations & business development activities.

Designation: Operation Manager

Reporting Officer: Chief Functionary Officer

Qualification: Post Graduation / Graduation

Relevant Experience: 6 Years experience in MF operations

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise all divisions • Visit branches of all divisions. • Verification of the loan utilization and ensure 100 % timely collection • Supervise book keeping and record maintenance. • Manage funds across Divisions. • To set target for all Areas. • Maintain good relationship with staff, customers and local population to obtain

and retain good customers • Supervise the staff of all areas, including their work in the field by means of

Chandra Prakash having more than 1 years experience as an Accountant with Gleam Distributor & Silkasia Exports Company. He is Graduate from Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University. Manager with JKV Credit Co-operative Society & G.S Group of Companies. She is overseeing

Admin & HR Reports.

LOAN PRODUCTS: EXPLORING NEW VISTAS The success of the reaching poor family and building the sustainable Institution is highly

dependent upon the financial products, the MFI offers.

The Micro credit program of SSMC is dedicated solely to the poor persons of the

community. The design of the financial products of organization is sensitive to the needs of

poor families. This not only improves the economic status of the family but also helps to

increase the business of the MFI.

At the time of the designing the financial product, organization has considered a few

important points, those are the following:

1. Appropriate size of the loan 2. Flexible terms 3. Appropriate repayment frequency 4. Reasonable Interest Rate 5. Avoid hidden cost to Borrower

Organization offers mainly income generating loan to its clients. There are 3 types of loan

The kinds of income generation activities that are being financed or are typically financed by rural lending organizations are:

Livelihood Loan : such as seasonal fruit and vegetables, sari weavers, small grocery store, making and selling ice cream, gasoline vendor, making and selling sweets, bread, lunches, making and selling handicrafts, cobbler and many other income generating activities.

♦ Asset Loan : service activities including transportation via cycle rickshaw, push cart, donkey or horse and Eco-Friendly activities loan i.e. solar energy product loan-solar lamp etc.

♦ Livestock Loan : animal husbandry activities such as chickens, goats, cows, buffalos, pigs, birds.

• Social intermediation (viz. Group formation, leadership training, etc.) • SSMC would provide training and capacity building inputs including handholding to

staffs in the field for them to make good groups for financial intermediation.. • Enterprise Development Services (viz. Marketing, business development,

technology/ skill training, sub sector analysis etc.)

SSMC seeks to serve the poorest of the poor initially in the rural areas of Central and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Landless are often involved in daily wage labor, these poor families have no assets or savings to fall back on during times of crisis. Access to capital during emergencies and to start and development of small enterprises is available only from village money lenders who charge high interest rates, as high as 5-10% monthly.

SSMC specifically targets the women members of these families those are currently

engaged in some income generating activity, as well as poor housewives who are not currently working but who show interest and initiative in joining the program and starting a small activity on their own. It is SSMC’s belief that empowering all adult members of the family to become economically active will make a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of poor families.

INSURANCE: SSMC tieup with Birla Sun Life Insurance Company to provide insurance services to its

clients, SSMC not only provide insurance with its women clients but also insured her

spouse/nominee also.

REVIVING LIVELIHOOD: Animal Husbandry is making a significant contribution to rural economy and socio

economic development. In rural India where over 19-24% families are land less and about

76% of land holders are small farmers, livestock is the main source of livelihood.

Organization wish to intend to make available two milking animal at famers after repaying the loan with in the period of one year. To fulfill it, organization planned to modify its loan size and repayment schedule will design in such a manner so that borrower can repay it easily during 12 months.

OUTREACH Since its inception organization is making efforts to serve to more and more clients in the

rural area. Organization prefers to work with women clients. In the total duration of its

operation organization has prepared a considerable cliental base in Jaunpur district.

passbooks. Contact details of senior staff including the MD, are mentioned at the branch as

well as the loan card, so that they can contact the concern.

❑ Services at Doorstep: SSMC has ensured timely and affordable microfinance services to its clients at their doorstep and at the place of their meeting. It has also ensured regular interaction of the client with the branch.

❑ Gender Focus: SSMC focuses only on women for its services, because it believes that women in India are the most under-privileged and they have a concern for their families.

❑ Collateral Free Loans: SSMC does not take any physical or financial collateral from

its women clients. Instead it uses social collateral and peer pressure through groups

of the clients as a mechanism to ensure timely meeting and disciplined repayments.

❑ Philosophy of

Innovation: SSMC has adopted culture of innovations since inception based on the experiences of microfinance sector. In this process, SSMC is developing its own software to keep track of the MIS data generated from the field. Also SSMC is planning to initiate its work on supporting clients’ small businesses which can improve their livelihoods.

❑ Responsible and Transparent Functioning Alignment: The staffs at SSMC are well

trained to deal with the clients and office systems. The company has developed a

mechanism of regular reporting by each staff as well as discussion meeting.

❑ Quality Human Resources: SSMC has a pool of talented human resources, who are

committed towards providing quality services to the clients. SSMC has developed

HR and operational manuals for the smooth functioning of the organisation as well

❑ Efficient Internal Control and Checks: SSMC has developed accounts and finance manual for its accounting operations. A proper internal control and check mechanisms at every level has been developed by SSMC to improve its efficiency. As for example, SSMC has provisions of surprise visits at branch level as well as head office level.

FUND SUPPORT Having started its operation in 15/04/2011, SSMC has been able to raise a loan support

from S.D.J. Land Developers India Limited (a Land Developer company engages in land

development activities), Sunita Devi and Mr. Avnish Kumar Jaiswal and till March, 2017 the

loan repaid to the lenders, In addition, in 2017-18, SSMC has been taken soft loan from its

Director Mr. Vijay Kumar for its BPL women borrower.

OPERATIONAL MODEL : Joint Liability Group (JLG) –

A Joint Liability Group (JLG) is an informal group comprising preferably of 4 to10

individuals but can be upto 20 members, coming together for the purposes of availing bank

loan either singly or through the group mechanism against mutual guarantee. The JLG

members would offer a joint undertaking to the organization that enables them to avail

loans. The JLG members are expected to engage in similar type of economic activities like

crop production. The management of the JLG is to be kept simple with little or no financial

administration within the group. JLGs can be formed primarily consisting of tenant farmers

and small farmers cultivating land without possessing proper title of their land / rural

entrepreneurs engaged in non-farm activities.

Size of the JLG

The group should be formed preferably with 4 to 10 members (upto 20 members) to

enable the group members to offer mutual guarantee.

Formation of JLGs

Organization may initially form JLGs by using their own staff wherever feasible.

Organization may also engage business facilitators like NGOs and other individual rural

volunteers to assist organization in promoting the concept and formation of groups. The

JLGs of such eligible farmers can also serve as a conduit for technology transfer, facilitating

common access to market information; for training and technology dissemination in

activities like soil testing, training, health camps and assessing input requirements.

JLG Models

Organization can finance JLG by adopting any of the two models. Model A – Financing

Individuals in the Group: Model B – Financing the Group:

Credit Assessment The JLG would prepare a credit plan for its individual members and an aggregate of that is

submitted to the banks. Banks may evolve simple loan application for this purpose. The

individual members of JLG would be eligible for organization loan after the organization

verifies the individual members’ credentials.

Purposes of credit The finance to JLG is expected to be a flexible credit product addressing the credit

requirements of its members including crop production, marketing and other productive

and income generating purposes. organization may consider micro credit loan depending

upon the purpose of loan.

OPERATIONAL AREA: JAUNPUR DISTRICT

JAUNPUR- GEOGRAPHIC FEATURES

The district of Jaunpur is situated in the North-West part of Varanasi Division. Its land area

extends from 24.240N to 26.120N latitude and between 82.70E and 83.50E longitudes. Its

attitude varies from 261 ft to 290 ft. above M.S.L. (Mean Sea Level). The topography of the

district is mainly a flat plain with shallow river-balleys. Gomti and Sai are its main parental

rivers. Besides these, Varuna, Basuhi, Pili. Mamur and Gangi are the smaller rivers here.

The rivers Gomti and Basuhi divide the district into nearly four equal landmasses. The soils

are mainly sandy, loamy and clayey. Jaunpur district is often affected by the disaster of

floods.

There is a paucity of minerals. Excavations at some places yield to some rocks which are

burnt to make lime. The lime obtained from sand and gravel is used in buildings

construction work.

The temperatures of the district of Jaunpur lie between a minimum of 4.30C and a

maximum of 44.60C. Average annual rainfall is 987 mm.

The geographical area of the district is 4038 sq.km. The economic development of the

district is mainly dependent on agriculture. The chief cause of this is the absence of heavy

industry in the district. Several industries are coming up along the Varanasi Jaunpur

highway. A cotton mill is operational near Karanja Kala. At Satahariya too, about 85

industrial units like M/s Raja Flour Mill, Pepsico India Holdings, Howkins Cookers Limited,

Amit Oil & Vegetablle, Chaudharana Steel Limit, Saurya Aluminium are running.

The Animal Husbandry, a dairy unit is established. Three fourths of the population of the

district of Jaunpur is dependent on agriculture.

According to the 2001 census, the total population of the district is 39,11,305 in which

there are 19,75,729 women and 19,35,516 are men. Thus the male to female ratio is 1:1.02.

From the point of view of the female population, this district can be called a developed

district. The number of women is 1020 to every 900 men.

From the administrative point of view, this district has been divided into 6 tehsils (viz.

Sadar, Madiyahun, Machhalishahar, Kerakat, Shahganj and Badlapur) in order to maintain

law and order and speedily implement the developmental works.

Similarly, the district has been divided into 21 Development Blocks, viz: Sondhi (Shahganj),

Suithakala, Khutahan, Karanja Kala, Badlapur, Maharajganj, Sujanganj, Baksha,

Mungrabadshahpur, Machhalishahar, Madiyahun, Barsathi, Rampur, Ramnagar, Jalalpur,

Kerakat, Dobhi, Muftiganj, Dharmapur, Sikrara and Sirkoni. With a view to law

enforcement, the district has been divided into 27 thanas, viz. Kotwali, Sadar, Line Bazar,

Jafrabad, Khetasarai, Shahganj, Sarpatahan, Kerakat, Chandwak, Jalalpur, Sarai Khwaja,

Gaurabadshahpur, Badlapur, Khutahan, Singramau, Baksha, Sujanganj, Maharajganj,

Mungrabadshahpur, Pawara, Machhalishahar, Mirganj, Sikrara, Madiyahun, Rampur,

Barsathi, Nevadhiya and Sureri.

foremost center of the organization is to hand out toward women from disadvantaged

community, who can initiate their business and make contribution in increasing house hold

income. As on March, 2018 organization has lent MF loan to 778 borrowers. SSMC select

the villages where population of weaker section is high. Maximum borrowers of the

organization are from SC and OBC category. Community wise detail of borrowers is given in

the graph.
