Using Children and Young People’s Data

Training will be take place in the School of Psychology at Queens University Belfast. Attendees will the opportunity of building and running models using real data related to children and young people’s lives (including the archived Doodle Den data set.) https://www.ucd.ie/issda/data/doodleden/

The study Doodle Den was a randomised controlled trial of an after-schools literacy programme for pupils in Senior Infants class (aged 5-6 years) in Tallaght, Dublin.

A one-day introductory workshop on Factor Analysis

This will be a one-day course that introduces attendees to both exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. This event will aim to outline the theory of the technique, introduce the software (SPSS & AMOS will be used) and allow hands-on experience of modelling data to allow attendees to use these techniques on their own research projects or Children’s Research Network (CRN) data sets. No experience of factor analysis will be required although it would be beneficial if attendees have a basic understanding of correlations or regression models.

This workshop aims to support research skills development and provide opportunities for networking (and potential collaboration) between attendees. The workshop will be provided by Dr Donncha Hanna (School of Psychology) and Dr Liam O’Hare (School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work) from Queen’s University Belfast.
