“I loved the Southern Images that I’ve seen at the sales.I think he’s got a great chance to make it.

He’s one of my top picks.”-Tom McGreevy who picked out Graded SWs Round Pond (G1),

A Smart Play Over Any Surface... Einstein was first or second in seven of nine startslast term, including wins in the GI Gulfstream Park TurfS. in February and the GI Woodford Reserve Turf Clas-sic S. at Churchill Downs May 3. The dark bay alsomade some noise on dirt, finishing second behind Curlinin the GI Stephen Foster H. June 14 and annexing theGII Clark H. Nov. 28. He kicked off the new year with arespectable third in the Jan. 31 GI Donn H. behind G1 Dubai World Cup hopeful Albertus Maximus (Albertthe Great). Einstein posted a bullet workout atGulfstream before prepping for the Big >Cap with a five-furlong move in 1:01 4/5 over the Pro-Ride Mar. 1.Leparoux has been aboard Einstein in his last threestarts. The Big >Cap marked the seven-year-old=s firststart on a synthetic surface. AI got a good trip,@Leparoux said. AI got him covered up, and the race wentlike we expected. I expected Johnny [Velazquez onCowboy Cal] and Rafael [Bejarano on Matto Mondo] togo. I expected to be third or fourth. I came running onthe last turn, and we made a good run at the finish.Jose Valdivia=s horse [Champs Elysees] came flying atthe end, but we had to make a move when we did. Ithink if we could have waited a little longer, we wouldhave won much easier than that. He handled thePro-Ride surface just fine. He=s a good horse on theturf; he=s a good horse on the dirt. He=s a good horseon anything. I guess there had been a question mark.We didn=t know really about this track, but we werepretty sure he was going to handle it, and he sure did.@Blue Exit (Pulpit), runner-up in the GII Strub S. Feb. 7,was pulled up on the turn for home and vanned off.

Colonel John Scratched With Fever... Colonel John (Tiznow) was scratched from the GI Santa Anita H. due to a fever. The winner of the GI Santa AnitaDerby and GI Travers S. lastyear, the four-year-old was thelukewarm 9-2 favorite on themorning line. The WinStar Farmhomebred closed out his sopho-more campaign with a fourth-place finish in the seven-furlongGI Malibu S. Dec. 26. He worked four furlongs in :47 4/5 at Santa Anita on Tuesday.
