Having succeeded as the National Business Awards Employer of the Year in the Midlands Region, Luminus has scooped two places as a national finalist for Employer of the Year and Health, Work & Well Being.

The Awards recognise the achievements of companies that provide stimulating, supportive and healthy workplaces. Judges are keen to ensure that there are well adopted values, that employees are actively developed to reach their potential and that all available resources are targeted towards commercial success with the focus on people.

Now in the ninth year of delivering socially responsible business, Luminus

continues to inspire employees to give inspirational service. An excellent job package is strongly supported by vibrant internal communications, an emphasis on training managers and decisive leadership from the top.

Chan Abraham, Luminus Group’s Chief Executive said, “We are in the people business. We do what we do through and for people, both employees and customers.

Excellence for us means getting this right and we are delighted that people outside Luminus continue to recognise this.

We are very pleased with 2008’s results, where customer satisfaction and business performance have continued at the highest level. We look forward to continued success in 2009 - and to inspire others as well.”

Luminus tradesmen sign their work with pride

Signed with pride

Luminus shines in Cambridge

Luminus helps Children in Need

Luminus has launched an initiative to encourage customers to comment on the quality of repairs services – while the tradesman is still in their home.

Signed with Pride is the bold title on a card that Luminus tradesmen will give customers at the conclusion of every job. It is a statement by the tradesman that he is confident with the quality of the work completed. Most importantly it gives the customer the chance immediately to comment on whether the work has been completed satisfactorily.

The Group Chief Executive, Chan Abraham said,

“Signed with Pride is a key example of our commitment to excellence in business and is already having a great impact.

We are receiving numerous compliments about the work being carried out by Luminus employees, while also highlighting occasional problems that can be remedied while staff are still in the property. I believe it is a valuable further opportunity to give inspirational service.”

Christmas for 34 boys in a Romanian orphanage will be much brighter this year thanks to the generosity of staff at Luminus Group.

Since October employees of Luminus

have been collecting toys, gifts, books and sweets to fill gift wrapped shoeboxes which have been sent to the orphaned boys in Romania who would otherwise go without.

The gifts started their journey last week and will arrive just before Christmas.

Luminus, working in partnership with Crest Nicholson is bringing its expertise and enthusiasm to the old Cambridge University Press (CUP) site, now called Kaleidoscope. The site consists of 408 one and two bedroom homes of which 122 will be for low cost home ownership.

The first homes should be ready for occupation during November 2009, the rest will be handed over at approximately six month intervals.

Luminus staff with the shoeboxes for orphans in Romania

Luminus, one of the region’s most progressive housing companies, is delighted to have raised over £600 for Children in Need.

Luminus held a dress down day for all staff and organised a lunch event, where staff sold edible delights including toasted sandwiches, cakes, biscuits, popcorn and cheesecake.

Even empty Smarties tubes were not put to waste as staff filled them with 20 pence pieces.
