Hallam Senior College: Headlines & Highlights Term 1, 2019

1 Year 11 Community Services students spent a day at Myuna Farm learning all about Infection Control when it comes to the health and welfare of furry friends big and small! 2 The year 10 food class got the opportunity to make beef meatballs in a tangine with egg. Plus our own home made bread. 3 Thank you to former student Sarah who visited the beauty class and spoke about her experience and journey so far. Sarah is continuing her studies in makeup for the special effects industry. 4-6 Representatives from De Lorenzo and The Body Shop visited our Hair and Beauty salon. Our students were shown valuable 'how to' steps and tips and then had the opportunity to try product samples and apply them in class. 7-12 Students and staff demonstrated skills as per the VET Hairdressing and

Beauty programs to students from schools in the South East Metro and West Gippsland regions. An outstanding effort from our students; confident and positive interactions with the other students visiting our display.

1 Our Boys' Baseball team is off to defend their State Title after completing a clean sweep in the Southern Metropolitian qualifiying round. 2 Four students from Hallam Senior College represented the Melbourne Storm at the NRL All Stars Indigenous Youth Leaders Summit in Melbourne in February. 3-4 The Netball program held their annual Leadership camp down at Phillip Island where the girls

participated in a range of bonding and skill building exercises. 5 The Rugby League Academy has gone extremely well over the first term as all teams have progressed to the state finals. 6-7 The AFL Girls played a match against Box Hill Senior Secondary College to put into practice their training sessions in a competitive environment. It was so good to see many parents and friends

supporting the girls and to have 10 past players back filling roles to help out on the day. It was much appreciated. 8-9 The AFL Boys James Harmes Squad travelled to the ACT where they stayed at the Australian Institute of Sport. The team visited the Australian War Memorial where they participated in the Last Post Ceremony and toured the facility. The boys also played a friendly match against Erindale College. Not Pictured: The Soccer Academy participated in their first practise match against Mount Hira College. This was a great opportunity for students to play together and put all their hard work at training to use. The Basketball Program have practise matches coming up against Rowville Secondary College with the Senior Boys and Girls teams playing along side our Netball program who will also

be playing in practise matches against Rowville.
