Practical nurses are professionals who are an integral part of the health-care
team assessing, monitoring, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient
care. Our two-year diploma will prepare you with the knowledge and skills to provide
safe, competent care for others. Patient safety will be a priority along with teamwork,
lifelong learning and leadership skills.
You will obtain your nursing theory in the classroom and simulated practice experiences
in the laboratory, with considerable clinical involvement in continuing care, assisted-
living facilities, acute care, home care and other community settings. Upon graduation,
you will be eligible to write a national examination to be licensed throughout Canada.
After completing the program, you will have opportunities to advance in your education

• Bachelor of Nursing After-Degree program allows degree holders to fast-track their
BN degree. The first two semesters are delivered at Lethbridge College. The remaining four
semesters are at the University of Lethbridge.
Your goal is to obtain your nursing degree to use your caring, compassionate nature
and commitment to the highest standards as part of a revered profession. The rewards
of being a registered nurse are many, including opportunities to work in a vast array of health-care,
research and educational settings.
During your time on the Lethbridge College campus, you will receive your education in a variety of
settings. This includes theoretical classroom teaching, use of the nursing simulation labs, as well as
real world clinical practice experiences. You will have opportunities to combine theory with practice
to solve problems and improve patient care. Upon graduation you will be eligible to write the
NCLEX-RN exam, giving you the opportunity to be licensed as a registered nurse (RN).
Practicums in a variety of health-care related settings allow you to apply your new-found

Massage therapy gives a new meaning to “hands-on” work and offers client-
centered care. Whether your clients are looking for rehabilitation, pain reduction,
or overall health maintenance, Lethbridge College’s Massage Therapy program will
provide you the opportunity to gain skills and experience you need to succeed in this
in-demand field. Massage Therapy may be right for you if you are willing to work with

Students are prepared to administer therapeutic massage to all members of the

The aging baby boomer generation reminds us of the importance of having
a healthy leisure lifestyle and has helped create the need for therapeutic
recreation services. At Lethbridge College you will receive a foundation in therapeutic
recreation and also learn skills specific to gerontology. You’ll plan and deliver these
services, including functional intervention, leisure education and recreational
participation programming. Your knowledge will be balanced with a thorough
understanding of the sociological, physiological and psychological process of aging.
