HEALTH CARE ENVIRONMENT

WHO (draft definition developed at a WHO consultation in Sofia, Bulgaria, 1993)—Environmental health comprises of those aspects of human health, including quality of life, that are determined by physical, chemical, biological, social, and psychosocial factors in the environment. It also refers to the theory and practice of assessing, correcting, controlling, and preventing those factors in the environment that can potentially affect adversely the health of present and future generations.

HEALTH ECONOMICS Health Economics is a branch of economics

concerned with issues related to scarcity in the allocation of health and health care.

It is a sub division of economics and studies the allocation of scarce resources among alternative health care programs on strategies for the promotion, maintenance and improvement of health.

IMPORTANCE Health economics in nursing is extremely

important in patient care. It can explain non-compliance with meds (too expensive), nutrition problems, and many other factors you will encounter when dealing with and assessing your patient.

UNDERSTAND ECONOMICS

Economics is present in and has effects on everything. This is because economics covers such a wide range of subtopics. Not only does the science deal with what people buy and sell, it also describes how people interact with one another in non-monetary ways. It's important to understand a few of the ways in which nursing interacts with economics.

SEVERAL CONTRAINTS REGARDING THE CHARACTERISTICS OF NURSING.1. Nursing diagnoses, nursing-sensitive outcomes, and

nursing interventions that are documented.

2. The effectiveness of nursing interventions in achieving patient outcomes, nursing data; lack of one-to-one linkages of nursing diagnoses, outcomes, and interventions; the lack of integration, linkage, and maintenance of standardized nomenclatures in the documentation of care planned and the documentation of care actually received by the patients.

3. The inability to retrieve some data.

To achieve a stable population by 2045 at a level consistent with the requirements of sustainable economic growth, social development and environmental protection.
