2. Marijuana was used around the world for medical purposes. The first possible reference to Marijuana in history was around 2900 BC when a Chinese Emperor ,Fu Hsi, referenced Ma, which means cannabis. Cannabis is Marijuana. 3. Inhaling through using a pipe, cigarette and inhaling the fumes is most common. Eating it in a mixed dish. There are even people who add to drinks like tea. 5. Marijuana is a Schedule 1 drug. -What does that mean? A Schedule 1 Drug are drugs that are not used for any medical purposes and are highly addictive like ecstasy. Marijuana is in the most dangerous drug category. 6. -You will be given a fine and an amount of time in jail. -You can go to jail and fined for possession, selling, or growing Marijuana. -Your jail and fine can be doubled if selling to a minor or having it near public places-like a school. -Fines and jail time also increases on how much you have in possession or how many plants you are growing. 7. The most active chemical in Marijuana is delta-9- tetrahydrocannabinol or THC for short. THC is measured to see how potent or strong the Marijuana is. There are also numerous other chemicals that can cause cancer and other serious health effects to the user. 8. Marijuana causes damage to many different health systems throughout the body and can cause damage such as cancer. The next slides will go with these health effects. 9. Short term use- causes distortion of sensory Long term use- can cause depression when not using the drug. 10. Short term- After using the drug it increases blood pressure and heart beat. It could potentially cause you to have a heart attack after use. Long term- Cumulative times using the drug increases chance of heart attack and other heart issues like heart disease. 11. Short term- after use may cause the user to feel hungry due to marijuana drying up the digestive tract. Long term- Drying up the digestive tract over time can cause constipation and other digestive issues. 12. Smoking Marijuana causes lung damage and damages the bodys air pathways like throat. Long term exposure can cause lung cancer and bronchitis 13. THC has been known to cause memory loss and the inability for students to learn as accurately as possible. Getting addicted to Marijuana can cause the user to feel sad/depress when not in touch with it. 14. Marijuana can cause the user to develop Paranoia. Paranoia-when the user with paranoia cannot trust other people. This can cause them to not trust family and long time friends and break off from society making them alone. 15. Not only can the person develop Paranoia and not trust their family but can also develop an addiction. Their addiction ruin families by spending money on the drugs to the point of possibly stealing money to buy it making the family distrust the user. 16. Most commonly mixed with Alcohol. Mixing this drug with Alcohol can cause effects that neither drinks have alone. Most users feel nauseous or have to vomit after use. These drugs make you feel sick. Both impair a persons driving abilities and it is not a good idea to drive under their influence. 17. Marijuana has been used throughout history as a pain reliever.
