Nutrition is very important to the health of persons. It helps people stay healthy with no diseases problems. It gives people energy for all the day. I and my group wanted to know how our community is: with good nutrition or with bad nutrition. With my group, we made a survey of nutrition for our community, we tested to 37 persons.

In this survey we can see 60% drink water when they are thirsty, while the other 40% is divided in: 26% drink juice, 6% drink coke and 8% drink tea. This question helped us see if our community drinks things healthy.

The next question told us how many times people eat daily. The 62% eat 3 times daily; this is good because eating 3 times a day is the common number. The other 38% into: 20% 4 times a day, 9% 5 times a day, 6% 2 times a day and 0% 1 times a day.

The 3rd question is how many times you eat junk food in a day. The 62% eat 1 time in a day and the 32% eats 2 times a day and the 6% eats 5 times or more. With this question we see that some people don´t eat so much junk food and that is very good but also we can see that some people like to eat a lot of junk food in a day and that is not nutritive.

As you can see in the 4th question we asked our community how many glasses of water do they drink daily? The 44% drink 4 glasses of water daily. Then it comes 19% that was 5 glasses daily, and then it come a tie of 17% that is 2 and 3 glasses daily.

The next question asks our community how many times they eat fruit daily. The majority of our community with 43% said that they eat 2 times daily. I think that is fine because you should eat 1 fruit in the breakfast and 1 food like snack. The rest of the community answered: 26% 3 times a day, 15% 1 time a day, and a tie of 8% that is 4 and 5 times a day.

In this question we asked when they eat more. This helped us see the balance of how they eat. The 78% said in lunch, the 9% said breakfast and the 3% said dinner. I think that our

community is eating in a balanced way because they eat more in the middle of the day and they could digest their food in a good way.

This question asks the community if they eat the breakfast. This was a very important question because you can see how nutrient is your community by seeing if they eat the most important food of the day. With 78% was yes, that is very good. With 14 % was sometimes, with 5% was almost all the times, with 3% was no and with 0% was never.

As you can see in this question we know if our community eats healthy snacks. The question was: Usually what do you eat for snack? The 46% told us sandwiches, the 22% told us fruits, the 16% told us vegetables and food in bag.

In this question we could see how many times our community eats salad (vegetables) by asking them how many times you eat salad daily. The 36% told us 2 times, the 33% told us 1 time, the 17% told us 3 times, the 11% told us never and the 3% told us 4 times. As you can see some people in our community don´t eat so much salad and that is bad because those persons are not nutritive and that affects our community.

In the last question we can see where people eat most, in their houses, in restaurants, fast food or junk food. The 96% told us that they eat more in their houses; the 4% told us that they eat more in restaurants and nobody eats more junk food and fast food. That is excellent because if you eat more in your house you are eating more nutritive because you can see what you are cooking.

In conclusion I and my group think that our community eats healthy. Sometimes they eat junk food but most of the time they eat healthy. That is very good.

BREAKFAST

Chicken, Chinese spaghetti and a salad of tomato and lettuce with a lemonade

Ingredients

Pulled Pork:

1 (2-3 pound) pork shoulder

1 large onion, thinly sliced

4 teaspoons chili powder

1 teaspoon salt

3 cloves minced garlic

1 cup chicken stock

4 teaspoons freshly squeezed lime juice

1 cup barbeque sauce

Green Chili Cheese Sauce:

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups whole milk

1 (10 oz.) can chopped green chilies, drained

2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Garnishments:

1 bag white corn tortilla chips

2 cups grated Monterey Jack cheese

¾ cup sour cream

¼ cup green onions, finely sliced

½ cup sliced pickled jalapenos

1 (4 oz.) can sliced black olives

Instructions

Place pork shoulder in the crock of a slow cooker. Spread onion slices over the roast.

Combine chili powder, salt, garlic, chicken stock, and lime juice. Pour mixture over pork shoulder. Cook pork shoulder on low 6-8 hours or until shoulder is tender and pulls apart easily. Remove shoulder from crock and place in a large bowl . When cool enough to touch, shred meat.

Strain cooking liquid, discarding onions. Reserve ⅓cupofcooking liquid. Mix reserved cooking liquid and barbeque cause. Stir into shredded meat. Set meat aside and keep warm.

In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium-high heat. Gradually whisk in flour. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly. Do not allow the flour to brown. Slowly stir in milk, continuing to whisk until mixture is smooth and does not contain any lumps. Add the green chilis and bring the sauce to a boil. Continue to cook for about 5 minutes or until the sauce has thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add the cheddar, salt, and cayenne pepper. Stir until sauce is smooth.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Arrange tortilla chips in a thin layer in a 9 x 10 casserole dish or on a large baking sheet. Spread pulled pork evenly over chips, drizzle chili cheese sauce

over pulled pork and top with half of the Monterey Jack cheese. Place in the oven and bake until cheese is melted, about 8-10 minutes.

Garnish nachos with sour cream, green onions, pickled jalapenos, black olives, and remaining cheese.
