Pat and I just returned from Smugglers Notch Re-
sort in Vermont. We spent our vacation with three
of our grandsons….a week with the boys was won-
derful. However…Pat did mention we needed to
come home to rest…we were really kept busy.
Well…with summer coming to an end and the start
of school…plus all the sport programs, parents and
grandparents will become busy again. I always look
forward to the fall season and the cooler tempera-
tures.
September’s program “A Past President’s Quilting
Journey” by Pat Christ should be a journey that
most quilters can relate to. How a quilter’s tech-
niques, styles and color pallet may change over the
years. I know as a quilt collector how an individual
can change as you learn and acquire more experi-
ence…plus your interest may change.
I want to remind everyone of the Boyertown Area
Historical Society Quilt Show celebrating the 150th
Anniversary on September 16, 17 and 18 at the
Historical Society Building. The show will feature
new and antique quilts…plus quilts will be for sale.
The Oaks Quilt Show Extravaganza is also held the
same weekend.
The annual picnic must have been a lot of fun. I
heard that some of our members were happy to
finally use their Heart & Home Cook Book. Also
heard the challenge went well and the woo woo
factor was a big success….sorry to have missed all
the food and activities.
Labor Day weekend is quickly approaching. Take
time to celebrate life and all that it provides.
See you at the September meeting.
Happy Fall Season
Arlan R. Christ
