The benefits of trusting in God as Psalm 28:7 declares are immense. One key benefit is the assurance of help. The Psalmist de- clares that because of his trust in God, knowing God to be his strength and shield, he was helped by God. Those who declare they trust in God are certain to enjoy divine help in what- ever area they are trusting God for. The only challenge is that when we say we are trusting God, that declaration is not heartfelt. You only need to see the next action or confession of the person who declares their trust in God to know if really they are trusting God. The trust that God desires of his children is a trust that is heartfelt. The clue to this is seen in the text again above where the Psalmist declares that my heart trusted. It is the trust that emanates from the heart that will cause us to enjoy divine help. Most of our trust today is only mouth-deep and not heartfelt. We say we are trust- ing God only as a confession. It is about time we started trusting God right from the depth of the heart. To trust God from the heart certain things must be in place. First, we must know this God for who he is. You do not trust who you do not know. Children grow up to believe in their parents because over time, they have come to experience the goodness of parental love and care and so when daddy says he will do a thing for them, they are sure to trust that it will be so. Daniel 11:32 tells us the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.Know- ing God empowers us to trust him and out of that is the strength to do exploits. A second ingredient that must be in place for us to have a heartfelt trust in God is confidence in Gods Word. The bible says in Psalm 138:2b for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.Gods Word is his mandate. If we are to know God deeply which will then lead to trust in him, then we have to know his Word. Go out and search out the Word of God and when you find it, it will only build you up. It is my prayer that today we will begin to trust God deeply from a heartfelt level. Gods power is readily abundant to pour into the life of the one who trusts: are you that person? God bless you and may you be marvellously helped by God in Jesus Name, Amen. HEARTFELT TRUST

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: ....” (Psalm 28:7 KJV)

I have often wondered what it means when one says “I trust in the Lord.” This is very com-mon among Christians to say they are trusting in the Lord. The benefits of trusting in God as Psalm 28:7 declares are immense. One key benefit is the assurance of help. The Psalmist de-clares that because of his trust in God, knowing God to be his strength and shield, he was helped by God. The only challenge is that when we say we are trusting God, that declaration is not heartfelt. You only need to see the next action or confession of the person who declares their trust in God to know if really they are trusting God. The trust that God desires of his children is a trust that is heartfelt. The clue to this is seen in the text again above where the Psalmist declares that ‘my heart trusted.’ It is the trust that emanates from the heart that will cause us to enjoy divine help. Most of our trust today is only mouth-deep and not heartfelt. We say we are trust-ing God only as a confession. It is about time we started trusting God right from the depth of the heart. When he shall come with trumpet sound, O may I then in him be found! Dressed in his righteousness alone, Faultless to stand before the throne! (Refrain)

My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus' blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
