Reserve space at the meeting for your guild opportunity quilt. Bring a quilt stand, tickets and change.
Bring your calendars for talking with professionals and booking dates for programs.

Check in at the registration table and pick up your packet of brochures from HQN professionals. If your guild isn’t sending a representative, your packet can be picked up by a neighboring guild or mailed to you.
Bring your dollar bills to purchase opportunity quilt tickets from your fellow guilds and mailing labels to make it easier to fill out the ticket stubs.
Listen to the professionals and mark the handout at the meeting with questions for the professionals. There is time to visit their booths after lunch.
Share what you’ve learned with your fellow guild members when you get home.
Watch for the next HQN newsletter with a recap of what was shared and photos of the professionals’ displays.

SEND US YOUR PROGRAM AND SHOW INFORMATION
FOR THE HQN WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK
Our mission is to keep those who visit the website informed about the activities of
our members—guilds and professionals, alike! The more details we can provide on
the website, the better!
This benefits guilds by publicizing programs, quilt shows, and attracting new
members. It also benefits the professionals by letting guilds know where you will be
presenting programs and workshops. Quilt shows and other special events may also
be shared on the HQN Facebook page!
Send information about guild programs, quilt shows, and shop hops to our
webmaven, Julie Kiffin. Any information sent with officer updates to Liz Granberg-
Jerome, Membership Chair, will be forwarded to Julie to add to the web calendar.

A word from your Membership Chair
Thank you to all of the guilds who have sent me officer updates that went into effect with the new
year. Updates are being made periodically, and uploaded on the website as more renewals or new
memberships are received.
All membership expiration dates are now published in the Member Guilds List. Remember, just
because your membership is current doesn’t mean we don’t need to hear from you. Every year as
your guilds vote in new boards/officers, the HQN needs to receive that updated information for our
records as well. In each newsletter we include a Membership Form, that is sent in with membership
renewal checks, and an Officer Update Form, which can be completed and sent in as officers
change while your membership remains current. Please, send that information to me, whether by
USMail or email. Please be sure to include name, mailing address, telephone number, and email for
the President and Program Chair. All of this information is necessary for the members-only list of
guilds.
Looking forward to seeing many of you at the annual meeting.

REMINDER: Nancy Wakefield Grant application deadline is March 1, 2020.
The Nancy Wakefield Grant—Background and a bit of HQN history
Some may wonder who Nancy Wakefield is and why this grant is named for her. While
Nancy did not start Heartland Quilt Network, she is instrumental to its success. At one point,
finances were so low that there was some doubt that HQN would continue. She coordinated
the effort to raise funds so it would. Also, over the years Nancy Wakefield held every board
position, and has continued to give input and information to those charged with its
functioning. Naming this grant to support the continuation and growth of small guilds by
bringing HQN professionals to them is a way to honor her involvement in the organization.
The application and guidelines are on the two following pages.
